The first week of rehearsal for @boopthemusical was a blast! I’m having a wonderful time training with @huberpuppet, getting to know my fellow Boop! cast members, and exploring NYC 🥰

Tour begins next month, and we are coming to a city near you. I hope to see you all on the road 🫡

Wow, that’s me.

Hi! I’m Adam, the human brain of Puppet Pants. You can see all of us, and a whole lot more, at the next Puppet Pants show.

Here are some questions I get asked by folks:

- What got you into puppetry?
 - I always enjoyed marionette puppetry as entertainment and I’ve always been a collaborator in artistic endeavors. 2020 lockdowns made collaboration difficult, so I turned to puppetry because it is a combination of all forms of art I enjoy.

- Do you make your puppets?
 - yes. All of the puppets in my show, except two, were made by me either in a garage or kitchen table.

- Who makes the music for your show?
 - me!

- Is your show for kids?
 - NO! It is for everyone :) it is appropriate for all ages and has been performed for audiences ranging from 1 to 90 years old.

- Are you available?
 - Emotionally? No, but for bookings? Very yes! You can send me a dm here or visit my website - puppetpants.org

Here’s a sample of what you can find over on patreon.

I have spent 3 weeks in Manhattan rehearsing for Boop! The Musical. I uploaded this video capturing the stuff I’ve been up to outside of the rehearsal studio along with a “tour diary” entry with details of my entire experience so far.

Enjoy this freebie, or go subscribe to get even more behind the scenes looks at what it’s like to be a touring puppeteer.

Krampus! Made by me in 2023.
This was my first attempt at molding and casting. I sculpted the head and hands in clay then made a silicone mold. The horns and teeth are thermoplastic embedded in the head with wire anchors. The tongue is a very flexible polymer clay. My wish was that the tongue would flop around but the clay is a bit too rigid for that.
The broom and child in the basket were an afterthought, only added after a stranger gifted me some sort of Halloween figurine of a witch. I modified the old witch head to look like a young child and installed the broom in Krampus’ hand which is why his hand isn’t closed around the handle 🤷‍♂️
The fur is from a decorative throw pillow.

Krampus only comes out to the shows during the winter months.. and only for some shows.
The child has special strings to “flail” and warn children of the dangers of capitalism and consumerism.

Have you ever received a fruit basket as a gift but the apples were all mealy so you carved an apple head and then soaked it in lemon juice and then baked it in the oven and then it sat on a shelf for nearly 2 years before you decided to do something with it?? Well that’s exactly what happened to me!

I liked the texture of this mummified fruit and wanted to paint it. Somewhere along the way it started to look like my friend @mklebeaux so that was my inspiration for the look

This week marks 2 years of being a “full time” puppeteer. It’s been incredibly difficult and outrageously rewarding, and I can’t wait to share what’s next with you all.
Thank you to everyone, ever! 🥰 by @_puppetpants

These two charming souls are looking for a home.

They are one of a kind and handmade by me, cast in durable plastic and painted, with costumes sewn by hand in my little workshop.

They are simple to operate and they love you. They are perfect for beginners or anyone who is curious about marionette puppets. It’s really difficult to tangle the strings, so young people can enjoy them too.
Make a skit, tell a story, carry them in your bag and put on a show for unsuspecting strangers. Whip one out when that annoying coworker tries to talk to you, and force them to interact with the puppet instead.
They can hold things in their hands so you can teach them hobbies or habits. It is your world.

They are about 9” tall, and about 16” with the controller.

$225 each or $400 for the pair 🤡

I made “toy marionette kits” a little over a year ago by sculpting a head, hands and feet and then casting them in plastic. The idea was to be able to provide people with a “blank canvas” to create their own puppet while also introducing marionettes that were simple to use. I always adored the Czech rod and string marionettes and admire their effectiveness and streamlined design. The rod in the head gives puppeteers greater control over the puppet than just strings alone. It’s great for beginners.

I cut and drilled all of the pieces and bent all of the wires so I could offer them as “kits” to build on your own time and included detailed online instructions and even clothing patterns!

I had a hard time finding a market for these kits, so I stopped selling them in 2025, but I had several castings sitting in my bucket of puppet parts and decided to make another one myself.

This is an Il Dotorre from commedia dell’arte.
I sculpted onto the plastic “base” head using super sculpey. The plastic has a higher melting point than the baking temp for sculpey so I had no issues putting it in my oven once the mask was sculpted. I considered making the mask removable and hoped that I’d be able to pop the sculpey mask off after it cured but it was pretty well fused to the original head 😆
The mustache is a pipe cleaner gelled in place with some Elmer’s glue. I ended up drilling tiny holes to insert the pipe cleaner into as “anchors” and held them in place with a tiny dab of glue.
The hat was made by the multitalented @s0larpunkd, thank you Fifi!!!

Everything else is the exact same as all of the other DIY kits
I always struggle with puppets wearing black. I think it’s too easy for them to disappear, so I added some grey details on the mask and boots, and used a sparkle fabric for the cape.
A small cube of upholstery foam was carved into a belly shape to give the puppet some mass.
The textured chest piece is a modified lace masquerade mask, I inverted the mask and inserted the puppet’s arms through the eye holes. The sash you see tied in front of the puppet is the ribbon that you would tie to hold the mask to your face.
