I had to remind myself this morning that I have the POWER!
.
On February 13th 2021 my life changed forever. My mother transitioned, peacefully. So many emotions came at me FAST. Shock, disbelief, anger, confusion. Nothing in life prepares you for that moment. You hear the stories, but don’t truly understand until you experience it.
.
This trip to Colombia wasn’t about the glistens and glam. It was about healing, growth, connecting and releasing. My mother now lives through me in every way. I will honor you everyday. I love you for ♾

Dear Mom,

It’s me, your one and only daughter Brittani; writing you a public letter. I know how you loved your privacy but you deserve to be loved and honored publicly. You gave so much love to others and your career but I’m not sure if you ever truly felt the love equally reciprocated back to you.

As a single mother you worked ten times harder to make sure I never wanted for anything. From catholic school to prom to college; you did that! Thank you! You would sometimes tell me “you won’t understand until you’re older”. And you were right, I understand now. The sacrifices, the hustle, the consistency, the challenges, the highs and lows.

Because of you I’m able to continue the legacy of breaking generational cycles. Because of you I’m able experience true love and build family. Because of you my faith in GOD has grown. Because of you I’m able to forgive. Because of you I’m able to self assess. Because of you I’m stronger and wiser.

I LOVE you mama ♾️💕💐

Thank you for having me in the room; to witness 50 years of black excellence. The next generation of young black alpha men are one step closer to achieving their college dreams.
