2 questions to ask when starting a new collaboration - or have the answers to if you are initiating the project.

🙋🏻‍♀️ What else do you think is important to ask before starting a new project???

💰 What's the budget?

🗓️ What's the timeline / deadline?

🗓️Timeline: especially if the project has lots of components, like multiple performances, workshops, if it's created in stages... Knowing the dates for these events is important. 1) so you know if you can fit the work in your schedule and 2) to plan how to do the work. If you're the composer of the project you would have to have finished the scores well in advance before the next performance. This depends on the nature of each project but generally give the performers enough time to look at the scores, come back to you for any changes, you would do the changes, and then give the scores back.

💰 Budget: yes, it's for you to know how much you'll make - but not just that. It's for you to estimate what you can do for the project within the budget that is allocated for the musical creation. And it is possible that the amount of work and the budget do not match. Would it be worth your time? You might need to hire a musician for a recording or hire a recording studio, are these covered in the overall budget?

😉 And final tip: take these answers with a pinch of salt 🧂. All these numbers, dates, might very well change because of unforeseen circumstances. It happens. 😏

How would you deal with this? 💛 by @_raniagold

What’s your experience working with your closest friend?

🤓 Your childhood friend: They know you so you can’t hide from them. They also know how to encourage you, help you stay on task and they are genuinely interested in the project from your perspective. They also know all your imperfections - whether it is a creative imperfection, like a skill you haven’t mastered yet, or how you manage your time, how you talk to other collaborators - they know this. It can be a negative thing or a positive thing in your collaborative relationship.

🥸 And you know your friend: same things apply here as well! You know the same things about them. And hopefully, there is also trust and familiarity. I think these are an important trait to cultivate between your collaborators. Working with your friends means you have trust covered so you can move on quicker.

🧂Take these with a pinch of salt though. Sometimes working with your friends is a bad idea and that’s alright. If you are lucky enough to have a friend you can work with though… I think that’s a blessing! by @_raniagold

On Saturday evening I went to a poetry event with my friend @kitrini at a local pub @craftbrewedltd . What an incredible event that was! Huge thanks to @millinerhayley_84 , Marc Lemezma and Sharon Morris for making it happen 💙

In the second part of the event there was a challenge to write a poem using a word that we would draw out of a bag. We had 30 minutes to write the poem. I took on that challenge 💪 My word was BLOOM and that's the poem that was created in that short amount of time 🌸 by @_raniagold
