POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
Hello Reuse Collective!

Reuse Collective is an open, evolving platform exploring a culture of reuse in Malta and beyond. Founded by @textcatalogue in 2025, it brings together members @gabrielatt00 @its_danie101 @danielformosa03 @matthewcachiafearne + @max_darmanin since 2025, and additionally @arjawan_hrg and @luca.bb_ since 2026.

We’re excited to be debuting our first installation, KABANA, at Kampusajf 2026: Playgrounds for Emergence, between 6th and 8th August and to be participating in the festival programme with a gathering and workshop on 7th August:
Kelma fil-Kabana, at 7pm, MCAST ICA Campus, Mosta.
The festival is produced by @kampusajf @mcast and powered by @apsbank, with artistic direction by @elysetonna @just_galea

3| - KABANA installation works in progress. Thanks to friends who assisted the building process on site Raphael Attard, Matthew Attard, Jeanine Attard, Julia Ann Cremona, Yuting Xu, and to Kampusajf 2026 production/outreach team @guza_polooza + @kdvs_lilla. Thank you @elysetonna @just_galea for trusting a new team to form part of the festival and for seeing value in our work to bring architecture to a festival for creatives across fields. More about this soon!

4| - Beginnings of archival and digital works, started by @e.fles whilst on residency at Art Omi in upstate New York

5| - Documentation of many long studio sessions, discussing and mapping the pursuit and potential of reuse.

A reel of pages from Documenting Difference - a mini compilation marking the project’s selection for the UIA 2026 World Congress of Architects, presented this July in Barcelona as part of Unremarked Landscapes, within the Congress’s Becoming Attuned research line.

Documenting Difference is a living archive of overlooked buildings across Malta and Gozo, initiated by @textcatalogue through collaborative workshops with University of Malta architecture students since 2020.

Photographs of documented sites were first assembled into an installation at Ħaġra Festival in Valletta (2025), and that same body of work now forms the ground from which Reuse Collective grows - the archive as something to be excavated, taken apart, and put back together differently.

Two questions now drive the work forward: how can design practice imagine new futures for the local built environment that grow out of this documented vernacular, rather than wiping the slate clean? And how might circularity become a spatial and cultural ethic, alongside a technical process?

This document and its accompanying postcard series were made possible with the support of Arts Council Malta, and brought together by Reuse Collective members @drm.ndrw @e.fles @gabrielatt00 @matthewcachiafearne @max_darmanin @danielformosa03 @its_danie101. This clip was prepared by @its_danie101 and @arjawan_hrg

With thanks to all the Documenting Difference workshop participants, and to everyone who has contributed documentation across the wider project over the years.

If you’d like a copy of the compilation or want to know more, we”d love to hear from you.

What do you see in the things around you? What are they capable of becoming? 🧱

@_reusecollective invites you to Kelma fil-Kabana, an open gathering that begins in the Kabana - a pavilion built from site-found material - and traces its making through shared stories and a playful workshop. A library of site-found objects becomes the starting point for imagining together - drawing, questioning and reinterpreting what’s already here - to reveal the collective potentials of the material world around us.

🗣️ The session will be guided in English, and participants of all ages and creative levels are welcome.

Introducing our next ongoing multidisciplinary project ✨

KABANA is a site-specific installation by Reuse Collective, exploring how reuse can reshape the way we value our built environment.

♻️ Constructed almost entirely from materials found on the MCAST campus, KABANA creates a space for play, discussion and interaction, demonstrating the potential of circular design through site-specific architecture. Following KampuSajf, the installation will be demounted and its modules reused by MCAST students and the wider community.

🌿 @_reusecollective is an open platform exploring reuse culture in Malta through research, documentation and material-led installations.

🎟️ Don’t miss it! Ticket link in our bio
