It’s October 10 and I’m already missing warm weather. I see the beauty in fall and certainly appreciate all the bugs going back to hell, but I’m a warm weather person.

I’m seeing lots of end-of-summer stuff, so here’s another one for you. The 2026 entry of my little long-term project almost didn’t happen this year, very thankful it did.

My beloved Nikon D5, Nikon 24mm f/1.4 used in available light.

Happy photography day everyone! Haven’t been feeling all that great the last day or so, but I wanted to post anyway, as I have a couple announcements to make:

Some of you know this, but I’m retiring completely from wedding photography. I’ve been doing them since the late 90’s on film cameras, and they’ve become too much wear and tear on me physically. My style requires me to be down on the ground a lot, and my back and knees are just done. I’m honored my last one was @emma_denlinger_solheim and I’m ready to end that part of my career on the wonderful high note that was her wedding. If you’re looking for a wedding photographer, DM me. I can get you in touch with good ones.

The rest of my photographic efforts are moving rapidly towards sports, at least for the next 4 years. I saw this coming a few years ago, and now it’s here. I’ll still do occasional senior photos and such, but I’m almost exclusively a sports shutterbug for the foreseeable future.

Creative stuff like the photo in this post are coming largely to an end, too. I’m simply not going to have time. I’ll still do one offs on occasion but my shooting time is going to be dominated by sports for at least the next four years.

That’ll put me dangerously close to……60. We’ll see what the future holds! Thanks from the bottom of my heart to literally everyone who has had the patience to stand in front of my lens, and particular thanks to @julia.asha07 and @alayna.jiya for assisting me the last 6 years or so when this all really took off. I adore you both endlessly, and literally couldn’t have done any of this without you. Thank you.🙏

I’ll see you on the soccer field and basketball court!

@pressingstrings closing out the main part of the evening at @woodshedatnatesplace Woodshed Fest. Their smooth vocals combined with a superstar rhythm section make for a great show.

@noahpierre732 band at @woodshedatnatesplace Woodshed Festival. Of all the groups on this day, this one played “my” kind of music (personal biases aside) and I enjoyed every second. These guys are serious players with tons of ability, and it showed big time.

@ensl0w bringing her indie-electronic-super creative (I don’t know how else to describe it, other than just awesome) music to the @woodshedatnatesplace Woodshed Festival July 25, 2026.

@super.city absolutely killing it at @woodshedatnatesplace Woodshed Festival. This group has it all and then some, with the best song writing around and the best guitar playing pretty much anywhere. Check them out if you can.
