And I realised…
I had been avoiding something I never truly understood.

I was taught a version of my religion that was so intertwined with culture, expectations and guilt that I struggled to love it.

So I spend my 20’s traveling constantly, searching for belonging in the wrong places and people—only to realize I was searching for the wrong thing.

And even when I began practicing, it wasn’t easy. I was shy praying, embarrassed, and uncomfortable being seen as Muslim.

This is my journey of unlearning, learning, and finding my way back to Allah.🤍

I wondered why sister Sarah🧕🏼 was taking longer to pray. Turns out, she was taking photos of me praying 🥹📸 She sent them to me as a surprise when I got home. My heart 🥲🤍 May Allah bless sisters like her. 🤲🏻@trailsofsarah 🍂
