With a focus on underground electronic music, SPDO Radio is all about highlighting the local community within the South Pacific region of the world and abroad.

SPDO Radio shines a light on the up and coming, the illusive, and those undersung heroes doing bits to keep the underground alive. Expect your favourite local DJs to be on the show, shelling out tunes and occasionally sharing some introspection into their local scene.

Inspired by all things underground, you can also expect to hear music that resonates from our friends on the other side of the equator doing bits to make their locale pop off.

This is @_rimutree_ ! We asked them some questions about his music and underground culture.

*Who/what would you consider your biggest influences?

I think the journey all started in the Cobb Valley during my first Twisted Frequency!! Being surrounded by underground music that I had never heard before in such a beautiful spot was nothing short of a life-changing experience!

Learning to DJ and attending local events/festivals then helped cultivate an interest in all the various forms of electronic music that are out there, especially in Aotearoa. Being able to interact with a community that was not only wonderful, but also full of incredibly talented and humble artists constantly inspired me.

*What does the underground music community/scene mean to you?

I don't think I could describe it in words... but one of the aspects of the underground culture that consistently reminds me why I love it so much is the level of acceptance and safety that is promoted within the community. We are all just humans trying to make our way through the world, and within that aroha and compassion are some of the core components of humanity that are much needed in the world today.

haven't posted on here in a minute, but lately my cup has been feeling very full and I'm super grateful to be feeling this way amidst the chaos that plagues our beautiful world..

I've been working hard with some really amazing hoomans to cultivate a platform for the underground, and have been gifted some lovely opportunities from those who inspire me.

so it is with great pleasure that I can say I have two new tracks available for listening! they are available for listening/purchase through the linktree in my bio!!

big shout out to @oliverprincemusic for giving me the opportunity to share my art on Dysfunctional Junkies Vol.1 alongside some wicked producers, and also to my boys @pazoid and @nae.wav for being incredible friends as well as partners. I also just wanted to say thank you to everyone who has been supporting SPDO it really means so much to us x

could not be more grateful for the underground community, especially the whānau in Ōtautahi, you guys have made these last two years truly wonderful!!

RAASCLAAT RUM BROTHERS biggest of ups @ambientheadquarters for having us - 6am Saturday morning !!!!

first time at Synchronicity with the unholy triumvirate of myself, @river.in.water and @bukabazooka playing weird bass music with some self produced content in the mix !!!
