For the past few weeks, I've been working on an addition to the F 60 Portrait Series. I painted the series between 2022 and 2023, and it is currently on view @kunsthallenuernberg

The title *ibid.*—an abbreviation of “ibidem,” Latin for “ibid.”—refers to a common starting point: the time the participating artists have spent together over the past 15 years at the Defet Studio and Gallery House in Nuremberg as part of the Marianne Defet Painting Fellowship. Through their engagement with the city, its architecture, people, and stories, a unique exchange emerged in each case, one that resonates in the works. The exhibition aims to build on this, seeking to offer both a collective space of resonance and a forward-looking overview of contemporary perspectives in painting.

Participating artists at the Kunsthalle Nürnberg: Mona Ardeleanu, Cornelia Baltes, Liza Dieckwisch, Michael Fanta, Isabelle Fein, Sabrina Fritsch, Henriette Grahnert, Vivian Greven, Toulu Hassani, Sebastian Jung, Aneta Kajzer, Zora Kreuzer, Veit Lautent Kurz, Takeshi Makishima, Monika Michalko, Ulrich Pester, Robert Seidel, Sophia Süßmilch, Fabian Treiber, Uğur Ulusoy, and Malte Zenses

I am delighted to announce the opening of the group exhibition ibid. on 4 July. The exhibition is spread across three venues in Nuremberg @institutfurmodernekunst, @kunstvereinnuernberg, @kunsthallenuernberg and features many fantastic, painterly works, all by artists who have previously been awarded the Marianne Defet Painting Scholarship in the last 15 years. A catalog will be published.
I’m really looking forward to the show and to seeing familiar faces again – especially Christian, Sibylle, Sigmund and Jenny from the 'F60' portrait series – reunited at the @kunsthallenuernberg and to pieces from the series 'Funde' @institutfurmodernekunst.
Thanks to the @g2kunsthalle in Leipzig for lending us the artwork.

Green Leipzig is part of my exploration of Leipzig as a visual theme over the past few years. The work offers a view from the Völkerschlachtdenkmal towards the city and is inspired by one of my favourite works by #wolfgangmattheuer. Wolfgang Mattheuer’s work Blue Leipzig is currently on display at the @mdbkleipzig in the exhibition Bilderkosmos 3, curated by @jenny_graser

Thank you very much for the invitation to the Saxon State Ministry of Science, Culture and Tourism @sebastiangemkow.

A few weeks ago, after I was told that my work “Leisniger Straße” was hanging in the office of Saxony’s Minister of Science @sebastiangemkow , I reached out to him and was kindly invited over. We talked about the painting itself and about art in general. It was a very pleasant and stimulating visit. A look back at a place that looks forward.

The work is one of three large-format pieces, each depicting a mountain road in my hometown of Grimma, located in the Mulde Valley. The picture was purchased by the @kulturstiftungfreistaatsachsen at the time and was also the starting point for the wonderful collaboration with the @aspngallery. Today, it hangs in the office of Science Minister @sebastiangemkow, which I am very happy about.

I have fond memories of October, and maybe this year I’ll have another chance to go out and paint on location.

During my artist residency @ccandratx in October last year, I devoted myself intensively to watercolor painting and produced several works.

This piece was created at the end of the day during the @ccandratx Artist in Residence. This small, unassuming sheet of paper became the starting point for many more watercolors painted in Mallorca. It combines precise observation with a trust in the medium and a joy in the process of creation.

I’d like to share a special moment from last year with you. When I was at the wonderful Artist in Residence programme @ccandratx in Mallorca last October, I focused entirely on watercolour painting and plein air.
After a whole day in the mountains, including a climb and plenty of sunshine, a special calm descended as evening approached. This was certainly down to exhaustion, but also to letting go and no longer thinking about what I was doing. That was the moment when I realised how to use my tools effectively and just how much fun and joy painting on location brings.

I love it when the sun's rays wake up the studio in the morning. Especially when a piece of work was finished the evening before.
