A little winter recap before we welcome you to our summer event SATURDAY 13th☀️

Last December, we teamed up with @mosaikomag and @hotpeoplecareabout for an evening of games, connection, music, espresso martinis, and raising funds for Malili Primary & Secondary School in Konza, Kenya.

Looking back at these photos reminds us why we are so happy to work on Rooted Routes together! We love bringing people together around a table, creating space for meaningful conversations, and watching new connections form along the way.

On June 13th, we’re gathering again.

This time, together with AABO Collective, for Between Worlds: Community, Belief & Belonging — an afternoon inspired by The River Between by Ngũgĩ wa Thiong’o.

Expect thoughtful conversation, drinks, bites, a beautiful garden setting, and a collective planting ritual to close the day. 🌱🎀

No need to have read the book. Do bring your curiosity!

AABO Collective and Rooted Routes invite you to share an intimate conversation inspired by the novel The River Between by Ngũgĩ wa Thiong’o.

Inspired by the themes of the novel, this gathering will move through conversations around identity, care, responsibility, queerness, culture, and the fragile but powerful nature of community. Through open dialogue, reflection prompts, and collective exchange, we’ll ask: what holds us together, what pulls us apart, and how do we actively show up for one another?

You do not need to have read the book to join. This is a space grounded in lived experience, openness, and connection.

Throughout the evening, participants will be invited to do a planting ritual where we will take a moment to reflect on what we want to nurture within ourselves and within each other going forward.

This gathering also marks the introduction of Rooted Routes’ community outreach initiative in Konza, Kenya.

Come in your version of Sunday’s Best — as an act of care, intention, and presence.

Program:
2PM – 3PM Arrival, music, drinks & mingling
3PM – 5PM Community conversation
5PM onwards Planting intentions, open dialogue & connection

From our first exhibition we raised enough money to build a classroom for a local school called Malili primary and secondary school in Konza, Machakos in Kenya. We are filled with gratitude and on behalf of the teachers and the students, they wanted us to also extend their appreciation to everyone who contributed to reach our goal 🇰🇪❤️ by @_rootedroutes

Through the lenses of @monicaaaaaaaaaaa and @nchmkr, Kenya is captured in the light they found most beautiful through its people, landscapes, stillness, and everyday moments.

These photographs were displayed at our exhibition back in December 2025, where we raised funds for a school in Konza (Kenya), using art as a way to reconnect, give back, and celebrate culture beyond borders. taken in Kenya, Africa by @_rootedroutes

Updating you on the impact group chat ❤️

A few months back @_rootedroutes brought everyone together for a fundraiser at @bar.bario with @mosaikomag. We were really happy to support and help raise funds for Malili primary & secondary school in Konza, Kenya.

@hotpeoplecareabout donated 120,000 KES, helping move the rebuild of a classroom forward so the students can finally learn in a safe, stable space.

❤️

@_rootedroutes will be there soon, seeing the completion of the classroom and continuing their work on the ground.

Go show them some love, follow along to stay updated and make a donation directly if you can. by @_rootedroutes

We are back with our usual program, but this time we’re doing it together. In the spirit of the festivities: unity over ego, regrouping over noise, giving over taking, so show up and show love!

For this special edition, we’re introducing @_rootedroutes , a grassroots collective using art as a tool “on the ground change”. From torytelling, culture, community to just direct action. Starting with Kenya; A place they deeply cherish and refuse to let be overlooked.

We’ve joined forces with @hotpeoplecareabout , founded by @shardae_so , to turn creativity into impact. Together, we’re raising funds for classroom development and maintenance for a local school in Konza, rural Kenya. This is about education, access, and long-term support.

-Limited tees
• First 10 tees: 17€
• After that: 35€
All proceeds go directly to the cause. Don’t overthink it, just show up.

🍸On the menu
• Traditional food — 100% of proceeds donated
• Homemade chapati because… obviously.

There’s also a GoFundMe live link in bio via @_rootedroutes and our bio if you can’t make it but still want to contribute.

Pull up. Play games. Eat well. Drink better. Support education. ♥️ by @_rootedroutes
