Story Time! 🎥
During the @idl.global Championship last Sunday, we lost my downstage dolly feed to broadcast toward the end of the show RIGHT before @grvdnc was about to perform their Championship-winning set. 😬
Our E2 @_samsunkeithley runs down to me, chops off the faulty connector, crimps on a new one, and re-establishes the connection back to broadcast just as GRV does their arena walkout, gets into position, and starts dancing!
The stress on my face says it all 😂 but honestly, this has been one of the most memorable moments of tour so far! 😅
Everyone give some love to Samsun for being an absolute ninja of an Engineer, and to the rest of our Broadcast & Production crew for working so hard behind the scenes to bring you a great show! 🙌
PS: Don’t worry — I was still recording internally to camera, so there was never any risk of completely losing the performance. 😎

I am deeply pleased with this roll through my new point and shoot. I'm so lucky I got it in time to capture @cecilia__james and @melloncaller playing @thirdwindowbrewing last month. And lucky for you, they're doing it again!! This Thursday, 2/16. Same place. Check out their 'grams for more info.

- With love from San Francisco -

SF is a new and special place for me. I've been up there a lot recently, and have really fallen in love.

The skies feel different there, despite being in the same state as my home. It leads to me feeling like I'm a continent away. The skies feel like they're watching but not judging. Maybe it's the clouds. They're like a big soft blanket that makes it possible for me to wear the bitchin new jacket I just bought at a thrift store. And NOT sweat.

The strangers there are friendlier than home. It's almost like they get it. Like they're living their lives and not trying to make things more difficult for the person they're talking to. Not saying that strangers here AREN'T friendly, just...different. maybe it's a forced friendliness.
It's an interesting change. Maybe I just interact with unhappy strangers. Maybe I'm happier in the city, and that is reflected. I'm not sure. I'll have to think about that the next time I'm up there. I certainly have a reason to be happy in San Francisco.

In other news...

Film has become my preferred format for documenting things. It's nostalgic and beautiful. It also means I don't have to edit much. Kind of a win win if you ask me. So expect to see more from the couple of rolls I shot last month.

Instagram has been a funky place for the last couple of years. I think that I'm going to dedicate a page of my website to be a photo blog rather than post things here. That project will come in a few months though. Returning to 2006 one blog at a time...Website is in bio. Check it out for film stuff too! :) by @_samsunkeithley

Another lil appreciation post. This one for @lpaultography - an musician, theoretical engineer, photographer, waterman, and excellent friend. This man has helped re-open my eyes to the joy of photography. And here is my incredible partner. I'm so very glad that you're into photography as much as you are, Krysh. You've helped re-light the creative fire under my ass and I'm so grateful you're in my life. // @krysiachalk // #alabamahills #lover #canon5dmkiii #bridge4life #canonphotography #digitalphotography #bridge4life #lonepine #mtwhitney #rural #makeportraits #mlm taken in Alabama Hills, California by @_samsunkeithley

One of my more favorite edits I've done in a while. 2 of my favorite men are documented in this photograph. So does that make it one of my favorite photographs? Maybe. // @lpaultography @gurreolsson // #alabamahills #canon5dmkiii #bridge4life #rural #bnwphotography #digitalphotography #canonsupremacy #pancake #40mm #f2 taken in Alabama Hills, California by @_samsunkeithley
