Part 7!
The lining might be my favorite part of this whole project. It took literal minutes to upload and order from @spoonflower and ended up being so perfect. I really had no idea if the sizing or material would be what I was expecting and I got very lucky on the first try.
I cut out a little pattern by measuring the inside of the jacket and hoped for the best because it was hard to measure around the arm holes. Thankfully it all worked out! by @_sarahrou

Part 6!
SEQUINS!
Halfway through the embroidery I decided I needed to add sequins. Spadey C needs sparkle!
It was tedious work adding them one by one, but I really loved it. It was like meditating. by @_sarahrou

Part 5!
I spent countless hours adding embroidery details to the design. I didn’t really have a rhyme or reason to it and just picked colors and stitches that felt right. I only used black, red, gold, white, and silver metallic thread.

I also used fabric glue to seal every single knot on the back! by @_sarahrou

Part 4!
Both sleeves have each suit on them. I rarely use the Cricut machine, but it comes in handy for making stencils. I used regular sticky vinyl for these, but I use heat transfer vinyl when making screens for screen printing.

The sleeves were quick and very satisfying and I love how simple they are. by @_sarahrou

Well I didn’t have a full meltdown this time so that’s definitely progress!

Is anyone tracking their cycles like this? I’m very interested to know if we tend to experience similar symptoms on the same days.

Part 3!
Once the design was painted and heat set, I started embroidering around the “Spadey C” part. I don’t have much experience at all with embroidery, so I kept the stitches simple.

I did have some trouble with finding a hoop that would fit over the thick denim seams and found some that were more like pvc pipes (not pictured). by @_sarahrou

Part 2!
After chalking the outline of the design onto the jacket, I hand painted it with screen printing ink. The ink didn’t glide on smoothly and I didn’t love the way it was shiny in some spots, so I’m going to play around with thinning the ink for the next project.

I drew the design in procreate first, which included a lot of fine details in the dresses. Between my brushes and the thickness of the ink, I adjusted the design to fit the space I had to work with on the jacket. I eyeballed it, like a professional. 😬

I let it air dry for a couple of days before heat setting it to lock in the ink. by @_sarahrou
