Ambra and Incenso @santamarianovella1221 two very different ways to ease into fall. šŸšŸ‚

Ambra is amber without the heavy dense coat. Warm, softly sweet, with just enough brightness peeking through to keep things cozy rather than gloomy. Think autumn sunlight hitting old wood, warm, but never brooding.

Incenso takes frankincense and gives it a twist of cardamom. Fresh start, aromatic spice cutting through the resin and giving it a little lift. This one goes on quite a journey on skin, but for some reason I much prefer the dry down. The coils of incense smoke becomes more intoxicating the longer it sits on skin.

Which one are you reaching for, Ambra or Incenso? #perfume #santamarianovella #fragrance #review taken in Bangkok by @_scenthe

13 Dior classics are getting a new life.
Or, as Dior calls it, ā€œrestored.ā€Which made me think, did they really need restoring though? Or just new packaging?

The Dioriginals collection brings back 13 of the house’s classics in 100 ml EDT concentrations and given a beautiful new home in these gorgeous bottles harkening back to their OG bottle designs. And honestly, I’m very into this. I’ve always loved the individuality of Dior’s vintage bottles, each one had its own personality and its own little piece of the house’s history. But I also love seeing them brought together like this. There’s something very satisfying about it.

Old bottles, new bottles… can’t I love both? šŸ˜‚
Now, the fragrances. Diorling is probably the one I’m most excited about. It’s THE chypre, obviously I need to smell that. I’m also very curious to revisit Dune and see how it compares to the OG, and of course there’s Diorissimo and Dolce Vita, two classics I’m very happy to see back in the conversation. The ones I’m less familiar with? Higher, which I’ve somehow never tried or Forever and Ever.

Okay, Dior, have they redeemed themselves or am I just easily seduced by beautiful bottles? Either way, I’m happy the old classics are being brought back into the conversation in 2026, as they should. What are your thoughts? Are you excited for this release? Which one are you most excited to try? @diorbeauty #dior #diorbeauty #dioriginals #perfume #fragrance Dior perfume fragrance taken in Bangkok, Thailand by @_scenthe

Launched in 1959 as the first fragrance from Maison GreĢ€s, Cabochard was created by legendary perfumer Bernard Chant, the nose who would later create Estée Lauder’s Aromatics Elixir, Halston and Aramis. And the name? Cabochard comes from the French cabocheĀ  essentially headstrong, stubborn, wilful.
Well. The perfume definitely understood the assignment. I smelled the Parfum version a while back and immediately knew I needed this in my collection. Unfortunately, where I live, Cabochard isn’t exactly something you casually stumble across. So when I found someone selling the modern version along with an older EDT, I knew if the parfum smelled impeccable, these versions would not disappoint either. And thankfully I was right, in fact this is just how I like my chypres.
Ā
It’s ultra green, leathery, mossy, bitter and gloriously punchy. The galbanum comes charging out of the gates, followed by that unmistakable leather and oakmoss backbone, with the florals doing just enough to keep the whole thing from becoming a leather jacket left in a forest for six months. And even if it does, I love that. Cabochard has character. Proper powerful character. Similar to Estee Lauder’s Azuree, or even Le Sillage Blanc by Parfums Dusita.
Ā
There is something almost wonderfully misleading about the bottle, too. The little bow makes it look as though it should contain something delicate and demure. Absolutely not. Put this in a black, glossy, aggressively brutalist bottle and I guarantee half the fragrance industry would suddenly rediscover its ā€œdark sensuality.ā€ Instead, GreĢ€s gives us a bow. I respect the mischief.

This is so good that I have to bring up the price. Disregard the vintage Parfum, which is understandably harder to find and can command a much higher price. But if you come across the 2019 re-release like I did, or even some of the older EDTs, it really does make you stop and wonder how something with this much quality, complexity and artistry can still be this accessible.

Whether autumn has officially arrived or not, I’m taking it as an excuse to reach for something that smells gloriously out of time. šŸ’šŸŖ»šŸ‚

Une Fleur de Cassie @fredericmalle
I’ll admit, this wasn’t love at first sniff. It took me a while to understand what it was trying to do and whether I even liked it. It’s not one of those Frédéric Malle fragrances that immediately wins you over. In fact, I can see why this one doesn’t get quite as much love. It’s an acquired taste, and certainly not designed to be a crowd pleaser. Then again, I don’t think it was ever trying to be one.

It opens with this strange collision of aldehydes and something decidedly animalic, a little cumin, a little indolic jasmine, something almost funky lurking underneath the flowers, similar to the turned florals in 1932 from Chanel.

The blackcurrant fruitiness here isn’t fresh or juicy, almost the opposite, as if it’s sucked and stripped away of all its juices, pruned, raisin-ed. It’s a stern fragrance but somehow, I keep coming back to it.

If this fragrance were a person, she’d be that eccentric aunt who lives by herself and has never once considered redecorating. There might be animal heads mounted on the walls, strange paintings, forgotten flowers that have been sitting around for years, and, inexplicably, a vase still holding the dirty water from whatever used to be alive in it. There’s an old fabric lampshade with tassels. A senior unbathed dog. Everything is slightly faded. Nothing matches. She refuses to modernise anything because, as far as she’s concerned, there’s nothing to fix. And somehow, the longer you stay there, the more you find it fascinating.

That’s Une Fleur de Cassie to me.
It doesn’t smell like a fragrance made for today. It feels like something that wandered in from another era and never bothered to leave. A little strange, a little dusty, a little dirty, beautifully out of place. And perhaps that’s exactly why I’ve grown to love it. It really feels like turning a page. Do you love Une Fleur de Cassie? And what’s the fragrance you reach for when the season starts to turn? #perfume #fragrance #fredericmalle #unefleurdecassie Perfume fragrance Frederic Malle taken in Bangkok, Thailand by @_scenthe
