A World With No Sun 🌌

Meet SIMP 0136 — a mysterious world drifting through space without orbiting a star.

Located only 20 light-years from Earth, it has about 13 times the mass of Jupiter and completes a full rotation in just 2.4 hours.

Its atmosphere contains complex cloud layers, temperature variations, and signs of powerful auroral activity near its poles. ✨

Imagine a world wandering through the darkness of space… with no sun to call home.

Would you dare to visit? 🌌

Two Galaxies, One Cosmic Dance 🌌✨

Meet NGC 2207 and IC 2163 — two spiral galaxies locked in a breathtaking gravitational encounter.

Located more than 100 million light-years from Earth, these galaxies are pulling and distorting each other as they move through space. Their interaction is triggering intense activity, including new star formation and powerful X-ray sources.

And this cosmic dance isn’t over.

Over billions of years, these two galaxies are expected to eventually merge into one massive galaxy.

Two galaxies. One future. ❤️🌌

Send this to someone you’d travel across the universe with. ❤️

The Hourglass Nebula ⏳👁️

About 8,000 light-years from Earth, MyCn 18 looks almost like a giant cosmic eye staring back at us.

But this incredible structure is actually a planetary nebula formed around a dying Sun-like star. As the star runs out of nuclear fuel, it ejects its outer layers into space, creating the glowing hourglass-shaped clouds we see today. ✨

The colors trace different glowing gases — nitrogen, hydrogen, and oxygen — captured in extraordinary detail by the Hubble Space Telescope.

Does it look like an hourglass… or an eye watching us? 👁️🌌

Send this to someone who loves the universe. ❤️

The Butterfly Nebula 🦋✨

Located about 3,800 light-years away in the constellation Scorpius, NGC 6302 looks like a giant butterfly floating through space.

But these beautiful “wings” are actually enormous clouds of superheated gas expelled by a dying star at its center.

A stunning reminder that even the death of a star can create something extraordinarily beautiful. 🌌

The Heart Nebula is an emission nebula located in the constellation Cassiopeia.
Its official designation is IC 1805, and it lies about 7,500 light-years from Earth.
Its beautiful heart-like shape is especially captivating, and new stars are actively forming within it.

The Antennae Galaxies are located about 60 million light-years from Earth.
They are made up of two galaxies, NGC 4038 and NGC 4039, which are currently colliding.

A planet is literally losing its atmosphere into space.

Located about 33 light-years from Earth, GJ 436b orbits extremely close to its star. Hubble observations revealed that intense stellar radiation is stripping hydrogen from the planet, creating a gigantic cloud and comet-like tail around it.

The escaping hydrogen stretches far beyond the planet itself — showing us what can happen when a world lives too close to its star.

Over immense timescales, planets like this can lose a significant part of their atmospheres.

Saturn has a giant hexagon at its north pole — and scientists still consider it one of the strangest weather patterns in the Solar System.

This six-sided structure is not solid. It’s a massive jet stream roughly 30,000 km (20,000 miles) across, with winds racing at around 320 km/h (200 mph). A huge rotating storm sits right at the center.

The hexagon was first spotted by Voyager in the early 1980s and was later observed in extraordinary detail by NASA’s Cassini spacecraft. Unlike hurricanes on Earth that usually fade away, Saturn’s hexagon has persisted for decades — and possibly much longer.

Even stranger: its shape stays remarkably organized while the atmosphere around it moves at incredible speeds.

Space keeps getting weirder.
