We wanted to share this simply to bring awareness to the importance of knowing the signs of a Stroke.

Two months ago, my fiancé had a mini-stroke followed by a full stroke hours later while deployed overseas. His stroke involved one of the brain’s major arteries that supplies a large portion of the brain.

Today, he has no lasting deficits—and a huge part of that is because he realized something was wrong right away, and he alerted the other soldiers around him who also recognized the signs and took action quickly.

A stroke isn’t always dramatic or painful, & it can happen at any age. The signs can be subtle, but when blood flow to part of the brain is interrupted, every minute matters.

Time is brain.

Knowing the warning signs, recognizing them early, and knowing when the symptoms first started can make a world of difference in someone’s outcome. We’re extremely thankful for the unit he deployed with, they’re an amazing team!

Learn the signs. Trust what you’re seeing. Act BE FAST. Call 911.

You never know when knowing this information could help save someone you love. ❤️

Received one of the scariest calls of my life about you while you were deployed. July has been a whirlwind of emotions, but if there’s one thing I knew, it’s that your strength and resilience are unmatched.
Welcome home, First Lieutenant. I love you ❤️🇺🇸
