POSTS STORIES REELS

The moment you’ve all been waiting for! And by “all” I mean the ~5 of you who have been following along my stories about the library refresh. 😘

The room still has a few more changes to be made, but the most important parts (the bookshelves) are all done.

Happy #SundayShelfie 📚 by @_shelfindulgences

Did this last when I made my account 1.5 years ago now. What do we have in common!?

🎶 I’m your typical anxious millennial with an emphasis on social anxiety. Escaping to a fictional world is the best remedy.

🖤 I’ve been with my gamer husband for 13 years (married for 2). He enables my bookish habits and loves Fourth Wing, so I think I’ll keep him.

🩵 I became a FTM last year to a precious baby boy.

🐕 My OG reading buddy is Baz. He’s 3, going on 4 years old. We’re told he’s a Mastiff mix born on a Reserve in Northern Manitoba, so he LOVES the snow/cold, which is unfortunate for me because I don’t.

🎧 I’m more recently an avid audiobook reader since having my baby. It’s what let me keep up with reading since getting pregnant.

🫀Enemies to lovers and found family are my favourite tropes.

🧚‍♀️ My favourite genre is Romantasy.

📚 I hate dust jackets. Can we just sell hardcovers without them!?

🎨 I’m a basic b*tch for sprayed edges. But tasteful and artistic ones. Solid colour? No, thank you.

📖 There is nothing better than a floppy paperback.

👩🏻‍💻 I’m corporate girlie, but I wish I wasn’t lol.

🇨🇦 Born and raised in Toronto, now living in the suburbs. I’m of half Guatemalan 🇬🇹 half Irish 🇮🇪 descent.

🍁 Fall is my favourite season, but unfortunately, it only lasts 2 weeks here. by @_shelfindulgences

#ShelfieSunday update número uno

So obsessed with how the office library is turning out. This is a slow burn project, but it’ll be worth it in the end.

I took this a few days ago and may have already moved some things around, but I’m just a girl with lots of time on my hands while my baby naps 🤷🏻‍♀️

My romance and fantasy books will need more attention since there’s much more of them, so stay tuned 👀 I’m determined to finish this room before I go back to work in October… by @_shelfindulgences

October 🍁

🏆 Many great reads, a few misses, but two standouts that were five stars for me: the new Dracula audio and 72 Hours of You.
🎃 Seb’s first trip to the pumpkin patch.
👩🏻‍💻 Went back to work (boo), but had a slow start that I appreciated and took for granted. We’re in the weeds now.
🍂 Phenomenal weather this month. Not too hot. Not too cold. Just right.
🎂 My dad turned 70!
🍫 Last night we went Trick or Treating and it was a huge success. I dressed as Cruella Deville, with my two Dalmatians.

Here’s to a good November 🙏

How was your month? Any standout reads? 💭 by @_shelfindulgences

The Endless Fall by @emmerson.hoyt (book 1 in the Deadwood Duet)

I absolutely love this book. It’s a steamy, gothic, small town, brother’s best friend romance with so much mystery/family secrets.

I reread this last week via audio and it was just as deliciously good the second time around. I literally cannot wait for book 2 when she’s ready for us. I think about this book often and can’t recommend it enough.

Despite the FMC, Willa, being only 18, I didn’t find her to be insufferable. In fact, I was routing for her and her happiness the entire time, especially considering her traumatic past.

And if all this doesn’t convince you yet, you will be foaming at the mouth for Ryker, the MMC. He is
Willa’s older brother’s best friend and he is what initially got me hooked. His wicked mouth made my insides turn to mush numerous times. Similarly to Willa, he’s also got rough past, but it’s interesting to see how the two have coped with their traumas.

Overall, a great Fall read.

The Mortal Trials by @authorcaseybond

Another one of my favourite (indie) books of the year arrived this week and she’s stunning! The book and art details are phenomenal. Can we take a moment for the naked hardcover design? 😍

If you love..
💚Allies to Lovers
💚Deadly Trials
💚Reluctant Hero
💚Disability Rep (with our amputee FMC)
💚He Falls First
💚Forced Proximity
💚Meddling Gods
💚Political Posturing
💚Multiple Pantheons

..then you need to give this a read!

The Poet Empress by @storygoose

I immersive read this and really enjoyed it. The narrator did a lot of different and distinct voices. Definitely recommend the audio for this one.

The fact that this is a debut novel is very impressive. This standalone is beautifully written and I was hooked from the very beginning. The world building and poem-based magic system are easy to digest and there are some important messages/themes in this.

Some parts were pretty dark, and a little hard to read so definitely check the TWs.

When I found out Shen was coming to my local @indigo for a signing I had to go! And I brought Seb with me which made it his first book signing, and he did as well as I could have hoped for a rambunctious one year old 😂 by @_shelfindulgences

Call Me Baby Side A & B by @authornicolefiorina

I’m going to start off by saying it’s been a month since I finished Side B and I am STILL unwell with how that ended. I need the next book desperately. She’s thick, but worth it. The writing style in these books is SO unique. You just have to read it for yourself to understand.

Now, the pictures don’t do it justice but LOOK at this amazing package. I was not expecting all the little goodies and the detail that went into them is impressive. The books themselves are also SO thoughtfully crafted. I am in love.

Happy effin’ Monday.

Any Andrew Harding fans here? by @_shelfindulgences

72 Hours of You by @darianneschramm
(Thank you @prhaudio for the gifted audio!)

I immersive read this, but had I not picked up a physical copy, the audio not only does the book justice, but truly brings it to life. Sydney is (hilariously) sarcastic, cynical and jaded. The narrator, Rebecca Soler, brought so much emotion to the role. It truly felt like a performance and not just a narration. 10/10 would recommend.

I don’t want to say too much about the book itself because quite frankly, the blurb does enough, but that doesn’t take away from the beautiful journey along the way. Just grab some tissues when the laughter dies down. Even if you know early on where the story is going, it will still make its mark on you.

The only time I enjoy a YA book is when the writing is compelling and/or it’s deep enough to stay with me for a while. This one managed both. And I absolutely loved the old school pop culture references that made this book feel like it was meant for millennials.

What was the last book that made you cry? 💭 by @_shelfindulgences

(Yesterday’s) DOB 📖

🖤 Drink: Alani Breezeberry in my new ghostie holder from @pickleandgusprints

🖤 Outfit: No meetings so, sweats all around ft my bookish ghost sweater while wrapped up in my bookish ghost blanket (see the theme here?)

🖤 Books:
- The Devils by @literarysewer - 24% in and loving it. The audio to pair with the physical read is sooo good. I’ve lost count of how many different and distinct voices the solo narrator has done so far. Fans of Jay Kristoff would enjoy this one
- The Dawn of the Cursed Queen (book 3) by @amber.v.nicole via audio! 20% in. I miss the graphic audios here, but love being back in this world
