Waterproof the building early. Install the finished facade when the project is ready for it.

That’s one of the practical advantages of Velo Facades.

As a certified rainscreen facade solution, Velo combines Sculptform Click-on Cladding, Pro Clima's weather-resistant membrane and ROCKWOOL continuous external insulation.

On this project, the weather-resistant membrane helped get the building watertight early, while the final cladding could be installed later in the build. That kept the finished facade out of the construction zone for longer.

And when it was time to install, the adjustable cladding system gave the subcontractor the flexibility to work with framing tolerances and achieve the crisp lines the design called for.

A facade solution that works with the realities of the build, not just the finished design.

Velo Facades on site 👷

Velo is a certified rainscreen facade system combining Click-on Cladding, @proclimaau weather-resistant membrane and @rockwool_group continuous external insulation.

Developed with flexibility in mind, Velo makes it easier to adjust details on site and replace individual cladding boards within a run, supporting design for disassembly and making future maintenance and replacement more straightforward.

Rather than adopting the typical language of modern townhouse developments, Shelley Street draws directly from the suburb’s industrial past.

On this corner parcel, we designed nine townhouses of three storeys, each with rooftop balconies — we applied a vertical living approach to make the most out of our site while giving each home its own street frontage and private laneway entry.

Now that we’ve seen some of the bathroom and ensuite spaces come to life on @theblock, we’re excited to share what our original interpretation of the space looked like (from our 2018 design of the site).

Inspired by the feeling of a coastal retreat, travertine surfaces, fluted glass, and a palette of warm sandy tones create a soft, tactile environment, while skylights and generous glazing flood the spaces with daylight.

Before @theblock contestants began transforming these homes, every floorplan we designed for this project was carefully shaped around the way people live.

Central to our design was a reversed-living approach, positioning the primary living, dining and kitchen spaces on the upper level so the expansive coastal outlook could be enjoyed every day. On the ground floor, an open central breezeway encourages natural cross ventilation, strengthening the connection between indoor and outdoor living.

We look forward to seeing how contestants interpret each space throughout the season as we share our initial vision for the interiors. Stay tuned.

You may have spotted this project on TV this week.

DKO and @_sl_ab_ began work on the Mount Eliza site in 2019, shaping its masterplan and architecture.

Years later, the approved designs have become the setting for this season of @theblock on @channel9.

Over the coming weeks, we’ll share the thinking behind the architecture, site response and planning that came before the cameras.

We’re curious to see how it all turns out.
