Empires are parasitic societal designs and Rodney does a great analysis in pointing out how European colonialist hindered the economic, political, cultural development within African nations. To claim a group of people is simply playing victim is to dismiss the critical harm perpetrated by an abuser. by @_slicknick96

For paleontologists, our clues are fossils.”- Steve Brusatte. Reading through this book I was hoping the author would talk about the Spinosaurs more in depth (specifically Baryonyx). Nevertheless this was a great way to mentally take a walk 200 million years ago during the Mesozic era. Growing up as a kid, I didn’t learn much about the Trirassic period and its inhabitants so I think I cherished those chapters the most. I’d like to look into more about dinosaurs in the North African region of the world after the Pangea split. by @_slicknick96

“A tenants union helps transform groups of people into defensive and offensive communities. Community isn’t a resource waiting to be tapped, or a static object ready to be discovered. It isn’t a network we access or a system we unveil. Community is an intentional process and a long-term commitment.” I love that this book reads more like a manifesto than just a collection of harsh narratives. The landlord/tenant dynamic is parasitic and now I realize that being one missed payment away from eviction is a death sentence for those treading water. Though the title issues the mission statement clearly, the end goal isn’t to just abolish rent, but to maintain collective stewardship over the places we call home. by @_slicknick96

It very refreshing to have someone take a topic that’s extremely vast and break it down to make it digestible.
