🎉Happy 14th to this absolute gem of a gem of kid! Most insightful, understanding and kind hearted person you’ll meet and HANDS DOWN the funniest person I know. Here’s some fav quotes of his this year:

☀️“Coffee is depressed chocolate that’s made some progress in therapy.”

☀️”Mom, this mouth wash tastes like barf in high heels and pearls.”

☀️Me: “Did you take your fish oil?”
14: “Yes, now I feel more Norwegian.”

☀️”Eating chips and hummus while watching Kurt Russell be a bad ass in little china is such a vibe.”

☀️Me:” I’m so tired I kinda just wanna eat right now.”
14: “Ok Windows 98, can you not handle more than two tabs; eat and listen to me yap.”

☀️”He yelled at us so hard all my past selves came back and had heart attacks.” (about a substitute teacher)

As a parent, you never know how it’s gonna turn out when they’re little, but then one day you sort of start to see how it’s turning out and you can relax and enjoy them more. And more. And more.

🧊Heat in LA got you beat? How about looking at these pics of my kids (and their dad lol) holding the ice age in Alaska.

First full week back at work in which I kept all children accounted for, as promised.

Jumped into the waters of middle school in which 8th grader is big man on campus and the 6th grader was initiated by locker combo.

Miraculously, I wrote 2 new songs this week, in which I am VERY EXCITED about sharing BUT I shouldn’t because of this gd throat/vocal issue. Still waiting on doc bc the health care system moves….GLACIALLY (👏👏👏) I talked about 14 hours a day everyday this week and then sang and worked on these new songs that were coming through✨needless to say I need to rest.

Hope to share songs and get back out playing soon. Next full band show Sept 29 @cinemabar come hell or high water. by @_somethingwilder

👩‍🏫📚The middle years: 6,7,8.

👩‍🏫7th (year of teaching)
👟8th (grader)

I work in special education so my class basically has the coolest, most empathetic, creative, deep feeling, sometimes challenging and funniest little weirdos. I didn’t think I would end up a teacher but my own kids were diagnosed as a bit neurospicy early on so, I got into it because of that. Also suspected the apple doesn’t fall from the tree.

I’m both a rule follower and rule breaker. I was a “good” student until about 4th grade, then life got chaotic at home and school got real tough to focus on. I barely skated by with Cs and Ds. Huge amounts of anxiety, loneliness and ended up believing I wasn’t smart because I didn’t get good grades.

If I can change that school experience for one student, it makes my job worth it. 🌈

People tend to share their school stories with me when I tell them I’m a teacher…or they tell me I’m doing the Lord’s work or they offer to buy me a drink. 😛
