Painting Our Emotions 🎨💛 I had the honor of hosting a group of powerful young people for a session called Painting Our Emotions. Together, we opened up a safe space to talk about feelings—learning that every emotion matters and deserves to be understood. We then got creative, designing our very own Emotion Kit Bags—filled with items that bring comfort and joy, like affirmation cards, small toys, pictures of loved ones, or anything that can lift your mood on a tough day. This was more than just painting—it was about building tools for self-care, emotional expression, and resilience. Here’s to creating spaces where our youth can feel seen, heard, and empowered. 💛 #SoothingSouls #PaintingOurEmotions #YouthEmpowerment #MentalHealthMatters #HealingThroughArt by @_soothingsouls
There’s something special about coming together—sharing laughs over ice cream, letting creativity flow, and simply being present with one another. 🍦🎨 Our Ice Cream & Painting Social wasn’t just about treats and paint—it was about creating space to connect, express, and unwind in good company. 💛 Thanks to everyone who showed up with open hearts (and colorful imaginations). Let’s keep building this beautiful community together. ✨ Join us for our next event—can’t wait to see you there! 💕 📸: @hiddenimagesdc by @_soothingsouls

Celebrating Black Excellence: Day 2 🌟 Honoring Dorothy Height🌟 Today, we recognize **Dorothy Height (1912–2010)**, a civil rights and women’s rights activist who dedicated her life to fighting for racial and gender equality. Known as the “Godmother of the Civil Rights Movement,” she played a crucial role in organizing the 1963 March on Washington and worked alongside leaders like Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Mary McLeod Bethune. ✨Did you know? Despite her qualifications, Height was initially denied admission to Barnard College because they had already reached their quota of Black students. She didn’t let that stop her—she went on to earn degrees from NYU and spent decades championing social justice. Her lifelong dedication to activism reminds us that progress is built through resilience and advocacy. Let’s honor her legacy by continuing the fight for equality! ✊🏾✨ #BlackHistoryMonth #DorothyHeight #CivilRightsLeader #BlackWomenLead by @_soothingsouls
Celebrating Black Excellence With Soothing Souls: Day 1 🌟 Honoring Dr. Patricia Bath🌟 Today, we celebrate **Dr. Patricia Bath (1942–2019)**, a pioneering ophthalmologist, inventor, and advocate for blindness prevention. She was the first Black woman to complete a residency in ophthalmology and the first Black female doctor to receive a medical patent. ✨ Did you know? Dr. Bath invented the Laserphaco Probe, a groundbreaking device that revolutionized cataract surgery and restored vision for countless patients worldwide. Her work not only advanced eye care but also addressed racial and economic disparities in healthcare. Dr. Bath’s brilliance and dedication continue to inspire future generations in medicine and STEM. Let’s honor her legacy by uplifting Black women in science and beyond! 💡👩🏾‍⚕️ #BlackHistoryMonth #PatriciaBath #BlackWomenInSTEM #Trailblazer by @_soothingsouls
