I remember vividly the prayer I prayed before God brought this man into my life. I told God I was done messing around and would follow Him. Even if it meant I would follow alone. I said I think I’d like a husband but maybe I’m too broken. But Jesus, you know, if there is a man out there that you have for me. One that would help me grow closer to you instead of farther away. Then let your will be done.
A few short months later our love story was fully green lit. With beautiful moments of serendipity and excitement and most importantly a shared desire to honor God.
The one who knows me better than I know myself picked the perfect counterpart for me. I’m forever grateful for Lucas and could write a book on how many ways God has used him to bless me.
Many people don’t believe there is one person you’re meant to marry, and for some people that may be true. You might never know if you don’t ask. After all I’ve experienced and all the confirmation I was given I find great contentment in knowing that this wasn’t my own design.
Today I thank Jesus for Lucas (husband ™️), and the blessing of our 5 years of marriage taken in Driftwood Beach, Jekyll Island, GA by @_souleva_

I would have told you that God was evil
That I hated him and didn’t think he was loving
I did every drug offered to me
There were times I heard voices and cut myself daily
Times I was violent and cruel
And saw no end for myself but suicide
I was God’s enemy with such ferocity that I allied with the devil and made casual deals for power
That all turned out in Satan’s favor and my demise
I forgave no one

Even still
God stated in the bible that all who call on the name of the Lord will be saved
And He made good on that promise
One night while I was alone in my room
Plagued with a demon in my stomach
I called on the mighty name of Jesus
Rejecting the path I had walked
Despite the threats
I was Willing to give up completely

I would not be here today if he had not pulled me out of the pit of hell, that I deserved to die in
But he has done so much more than that
And changed my life in more ways than I thought he could
I of all people shouldn’t be telling you this but God has accepted me with all my flaws and past and daily mistakes, as his own child
Because of Jesus and His death on the cross
I can be free

A decade later and I’m still getting to know Him
He is revealing to my spiritual eyes the truth™
And shows me how to live
Even when my own soul fights against me
I can trust in him

God’s way is better
Repent and believe that Jesus Christ is God in the flesh
