Chivita, born on January 17, 2006, passed away on May 13, 2025, at the age of 19. My parents named her after my dad’s nickname, “Chivo,” which means “goat” in Spanish. My sister, who was my dad’s little girl, was also nicknamed “Chivita”; so the name passed on. Chivita was born in Fresno, CA. As a kid, I was thrilled to have her. We went to parks, church, and justice protests, and sometimes took walks after school. Her favorite snacks were McDonald’s chicken nuggets and waffles. She grew up quickly to be an average-sized Chihuahua mix and was nicknamed “Gorda,” meaning “fatty” in Spanish. Chivita, a mature, protective, playful and well-behaved dog. She didn’t want to sleep on her own for 10 years and enjoyed our food than her own. Chivita celebrated her birthday annually and gave birth to five puppies at age 2 in 2008. Sadly, her dogs passed away, with Scrappy being the last. In 2017, she became a grandmother. That same year, I feared losing her to pyometra, a disease affecting female cats/dogs, and considered putting her to sleep if the surgery cost was too high. Thankfully, she recovered and remained strong. Last year, we noticed Chivita’s vision, balance, and barking issues. Despite these problems, she could still eat, smell, and react normally. Chivita celebrated her 19th birthday. I believed she could pass 20. My mom and I bought dog sheets, fed her, and kept her balanced. We were her caregivers. I filmed her saying happy Mother’s Day. On May 13, I spoke to Chivita and planned to see her after a work trip to Las Vegas for EDC. I didn’t want to tell her my goodbyes, but I did in case. I believed I’d see her and she was healthy. After arriving, I FaceTimed my mom, who cried. I told her, “don’t tell me?!”. I cried and wished I was home. My family made plans for Chivita’s passing. I’m usually unaffected by tragedy, but after losing her, I felt sad, quiet, and bitter. I worked on and off, sometimes not showing up. Chivita is family and she needed us like we did. She had a good lifespan, and I thank God for her life. She’ll always be my first dog. I still miss her and love her forever. ❤️ by @_speedy213

Went to see Hayley Williams at the Hollywood Bowl and apparently my ticket came with a bonus feature: obstructed view. (I already figured after I bought it.

Maybe I couldn’t see half of the stage, but I could hear every song, feel the vibes, and enjoy being there.
