6 years with Mikey & 1 year since we moved to the Netherlands!

An honest rambling on both: Michiel’s approach to life is genuinely inspiring and I’m lucky to get an intimate look into his brilliant mind. He works his ass off and watching him lead and grow while doing something he loves is enough to make me follow him anywhere. He also does everything he can to turn my dreams into reality as much as his own. Being with Mikey is easy; moving, however, has been hard. I miss home and it’s taken me awhile to grasp the permanence of the distance from my family and friends. Immigrating to NL has been extremely humbling and there are a lot of “what am I doing” moments. I also love it here. It’s made me listen better, trust myself more, and be on time for the train. It’s cracked my world open to how much I have to learn and shutting up sometimes to do that. I’ll be completing the Dutch civic integration process (inburgering) for the next 3 years and continuing my Dutch language studies/ career search. I wanted to be open that this first year has been tough, but it also manifested what I’d wished for when I left home - to stop letting fear be my dictator. fulfilled a childhood dream of touring a peach orchard and dining in a vineyard 🍑🍇

I visited @terragust in Manacor, Mallorca for an agriculture tour and seasonal tasting menu with my honey at one of their farms. We learned about their produce, farming process, and 0 km harvesting efforts. They served 4 courses created directly from their crops, one of which was a cold almond and melon soup that blew my mind. An unforgettable dining experiences better than I could have ever wished for ✨ taken in Manacor by @_spicytuna

After 7 months in NL, I’m officially a resident! I can get a job! And health insurance!! I have no idea what’s ahead on my career journey, but I’m excited. Since I’ve been here, I haven’t driven a car, I’m outside more than ever, and I’m close to the ocean (an hour away lmao, but close by Midwest terms)! Next month I’ll complete A1 level Dutch and get my first diploma. Moving abroad has been the biggest leap of faith I’ve ever taken and I’m so grateful for Michiel that we did this together. And that’s on growth babyyy!! Proost!🥂
