💭Can the Community Centre be reimagined?

Can it exist outside of council jurisdiction and funding? Can it be run by the people, for the people?

Can arts, performance, creativity, food, music, textiles, woodwork, dance and literature bring people back to the community centre?

A community centre should mean the centre of the community. But how do we create a thriving, neutral space for everybody to coexist in an ethical and biodiverse way when so much around us feels broken and divided?

We propose Studio Deco: a new charity that enables not one person, but many, to co-create and co-shape the way a space works. A space that accepts all art forms, including and especially circus, putting the North East on the map as an industry player in the performing arts.

This is an invitation to explore the concept, to share ideas, and to get involved in making it possible. Join our open Zoom meeting to learn more and help us build a collective to-do list for change.
