(PT. 1/3)The face behind the brand: 10 years ago, i was just a 13 year old middle school girl who needed her hair done after being stood up by her stylist and was determined to get it done with or without her. Since then, I’ve ran through about 3 different names and styles for my newfound business venture. Although this wasn’t something I thought I’d be this invested in, i’m in it and i’m in it ALL THE WAY. Along the way, i’ve been told by many “you need to find a job”, “you need to go back to school”, “doing hair isn’t gonna pay your bills” well listening to everyone’s opinions, i’ve tried almost everything to try to find something with “more stability” or “real benefits”. I went to school to be a dental hygienist, I took courses in early childcare and became a wonderful infant teacher, I even tried to make office work my career, I’ve had jobs after jobs and no matter what i do outside of what i do, running my business is the only thing that makes me happy. It’s the only thing that has fulfilled me to know that this is my purpose and this is what god has called me to do. With that being said, 10 years, 3 names, and some hiatuses later, I’d like to RE-introduce myself as Alee, the CEO of Studio Eight6teen LLC. My very first Beginner’s Braiding Class is officially in the books… and wow 🥹🖤 This experience meant so much more to me than just teaching braids. Being able to pour into others, build confidence, share knowledge, and help future braiders believe in themselves was truly an unforgettable feeling. Watching my student come in nervous and leave feeling more confident reminded me why I decided to host these classes in the first place ✨ In this class we covered: ✔️ Sanitation & professionalism ✔️ Parting & sizing ✔️ Cornrows, stitch braids, box braids & knotless techniques (she caught on so fast we turned it up a notch learning to do rope twist 🔥) ✔️ Confidence, consistency & growth 💛 We also briefly discussed client building and money management, but my student decided she’d like to save diving deeper into those topics for a later time once she feels more ready — which I’m always more than happy to help and share knowledge on ✨ I’m beyond grateful for every person who trusts me to be part of their journey.
