Hailing from Busan, Korea, Sun Gin is a DJ and musician who fills the room with waves of primitive rhythms and sonic elements. Sun Gin's sound widely expands beyond conventional club tunes, engaging unique instrument sounds, melodies or vocals that are unpredictable. Beyond her own music, she has been running a studio and organizing electronic music events where she introduces techno and house culture to newcomers in Korea. <색 色 SAEK / 한옥 Hanok>

두 번째 이야기는 경주의 도봉서당에서 펼쳐졌습니다. 기나긴 역사와 혼이 깃들어 있는 고택의 아름다움은 저희에게 영감을 주었습니다.

옛것인 한옥을 배경으로 울려 퍼지는 현대의 산물 전자음악은 절제된 리듬과 따뜻한 음색으로 자연을 거스르지 않고 조화를 이루며, 이는 우리의 전통 건축 방식인 한옥과도 닮아 있습니다. 차분하고 자연을 닮은 소리는 현대적 질감과 어우러지면서도 평온함을 전하는 동시에, 마치 한옥이 지닌 아름다움과 지혜를 이야기하는 듯 합니다.

차경 속 길게 늘어 놓은 전통 민속품과 목공예품, 옹기, 향로 등 조선 유물 위에 동양 꽃꽂이 방법으로 구절초를 꽂아내려갑니다. 마치 서당 옆 흐드러지게 핀 구절초 꽃이 내려앉은 것처럼 보입니다. 자연과 옛것 사이로 보이고 들리는 현대의 문물이 마주하고 대화할 수 있도록, 정제되고 간결한 것에 집중합니다.

평면적으로 보일 수 있을 법한 화면을 보완하며 마치 직조를 하듯이 수직적인 요소를 더해 입체적인 깊이를 부여합니다. 시간과 공간이 한 화면 속에서 조화롭게 스며들 수 있도록 순간을 담아냅니다.

화면 속 수평으로 놓인 인물과 꽃, 옛 사물처럼, 우리는 시간의 흐름 속에 나란히 놓인 존재들로서 각자의 역할을 맡고 있습니다. 서로를 배려하고 우리 고유의 문화유산과 전통을 존중하는 마음으로 함께 했습니다.

Our second story unfolds at Dobongseodang in Gyeongju. The beauty, the history, and the soul of the old house inspires us.

The modern electronic music resonates against the backdrop of the old Hanok. Sun Gin and TAERI KIM’s minimal rhythms and warm tones harmonize with nature rather than overpowering it, much like Hanok, the traditional Korean architectural style. Their calm, nature-like sounds paradoxically blend with modern textures, evoking a sense of peace that echoes the beauty and wisdom of Hanok.

On long rows of traditional folk crafts—wooden carvings, earthenware, incense burners, and Joseon relics—HyunWoo Chu places Gujeolcho flowers using the oriental flower arrangement method. It looks as if the Gujeolcho flowers, blooming in abundance beside the Seodang, have gently settled there. He focuses on refinement and precision, allowing nature, history, and modernity to converge and converse in the spaces between sight and sound.

To complement the seemingly flat screen, jeonyongju introduces vertical elements, weaving depth into the composition and creating a sense of three-dimensionality. He captures fleeting moments, allowing time and space to harmoniously permeate a single frame.

We exist alongside one another in the flow of time, just like the human figures, flowers, and aged objects placed in horizontal alignment on the screen. We work with respect for each other, our cultural heritage, and our traditions.

Thank you to everyone… sharing some moments of my set at Hahoe openair @hahoe.kr festival a few days ago.

It was an unforgettable experience, especially that the location was in Andong, the capital of Korea’s spiritual culture.

Sharing energy in this part of the country felt amazing and strongly connected to my roots. Lots of Korean art, music, performances were inspiring. I can‘t wait for the next year already.

어디에서 왔든 무슨 일을 하든, 모두가 사랑으로 이어진 한 가족으로 존재한다는 것이 무엇을 의미하는지 다시금 깨닫게 해 준 @hahoefestival 에 진심으로 감사드립니다. 축제 내내 평화롭고 설레는 분위기가 감돌았고, 자유로움과 창의성을 곳곳에서 느낄 수 있었습니다.

역사적으로 어려운 시기들을 겪으며 한국인들이 이러한 가치들을 다시 누릴 수 있게 된 지는 오래 되지 않았습니다. 깊은 감사를 느꼈고, 축제가 지속되어 다음 세대들도 우리가 그랬듯 한 가족으로서 함께 누릴 수 있기를 바랍니다. 축제를 만들어주신 @oennus 과 모든 팀원분들의 노고에 진심으로 감사드립니다. 함께할 수 있어서 영광이었습니다!

I’d really like to thank Hahoe festival for reminding us what it means to be a big loving family, no matter where we‘re from or what we do. We felt the peaceful excitement throughout the festival, celebrating the freedom and creativity together.

I’m happy to announce my new release of the track ‘Wild Pear’ on @illegalalienrecords label’s new compilation series.

Thanks to @ricardo_garduno_official for believing me and giving me the opportunity to be part of the meaningful project. Throughout my musical journey in techno, Ricardo’s music has inspired me in many ways, especially with the deep, hypnotic sonic perspective.

I would like to also express deep gratitude to everyone who’ve been inspiring through their music and helping me express the stories in my mind through sound.

Deported Series: Connections is the new annual Various Artists compilation series from Illegal Alien Records, continuing a tradition that has become a defining statement of the label’s vision. This new chapter focuses on artists born or based across different regions of the world, highlighting the global reach and cultural diversity of contemporary Techno.

The first edition, Deported Series: Asia Connection | One, is dedicated to the incredible continent of Asia, bringing together a carefully curated selection of emerging talents and well-established artists from the international Techno scene, while preserving the sound and artistic direction that define the label.

피안 (彼岸)

피안은 전자음악을 매개로 형성되는 하나의 감각적 세계다.
그 안에서 흐름과 공간, 그리고 존재들이 유기적으로 맞물리며
각자의 방식으로 감각을 확장하는 경험을 만들어낸다.

피안은 도달해야 할 목적지가 아니라,
그 방향으로 나아가는 과정 자체를 의미한다.
어느 순간, 스스로 그 흐름 안에 있음을 인지하게 될 때
그곳이 바로 피안이다.

Pian (Pāramitā)

Pian is a sensory realm shaped through electronic music.
Within it, flow, space, and presence intertwine organically,
creating an experience where each individual expands their perception in their own way.

Pian is not a destination to arrive at,
but a process of moving toward it.
The moment one becomes aware of being within that flow
that is Pian.
