Below is a snippet from my short story: BRAUN ELECTRIC RAZOR AND BRAISED TOMATOES

"Like my cousin, the first time I tried to shave was with a manly device, the only one I could find on visible display at home. My mother always kept hers hidden behind her underwear drawer, and I must confess I do the same.
The whole procedure was done secretly at the tender age of 11 with my uncle's Braun shaving machine. By then, I was part of a swimming club and trained almost daily. That is when I had my first real crush, my coach. The confusing peak of hormones brought not only tormentous feelings towards the young man but also a light patch of undesirable hair under my armpit. I remember seeing it for the first time as if it wasn't a part of my body, as an intruder with life of its own, a creature.
I sneaked into my uncle's bathroom and plugged the electric shaving device into the wall. The black object felt hostile and mysterious; I felt a shiver when I turned it on and scarily proceeded to bring it closer to my armpit. The noisy engine caught my pubescent hairs and pulled them so violently that part of my flesh came off with it. Tiny dots of blood appeared. The pain felt like a rite of passage and purification, and until now, I still have a scar from that first encounter between my armpit and the electric shaver."

“My reflection now travels to 1996, I was 11 years old, and my father took me to his office to show me this very new thing called The Internet. He told me I could look for anything and showed me the principle of Websites.
I sat in front of the screen for a long time, as if I was in front of the oracle of truth. The idea of “asking about anything” seemed out of proportion and difficult to grasp. I finally decided to type NBA Michael Jordan.”
