transmutations photography project !!!! aye aye aye this was a tripppp. after having no idea what i was doing for a decent amount of the project, i decided to do something a little outside of my comfort zone and mix my usual preference of collage with self-portraiture and poetry. i feel like there’s a lot of stigma around poetry and it’s often viewed in a cliche and taboo way (not excluding my own view on it) so it was a challenge to fight the gut-reaction embarrassment that came with doing/presenting this project. and making myself emotionally vulnerable😌. that being said, i really love the result and got a lot out of the process personally. it was a cathartic project that took a lot of self reflection and a LOT of having to stare at my own face, but i feel like it was overall a fun exercise in persistence and growth. (also shout out to grace for taking pics of me staring at drawn boobs and pulling at my eyelashes❤️) taken in WSU School of Art, Design and Creative Industries by @_taywallart_

back and better than ever BABEY. finally did a bit of a touch up on strawb and she’s looking as radiant as ever (literally) and so much less crusty💖. i mostly just went back in and put in more color and did a bit more work highlighting/shadowing the hair and making it more opaque (the last image is a before pic for comparison) taken in Wichita, Kansas by @_taywallart_

“slop chest”, 2024, mixed media … definitely not finished tussling with this one yet but am super grateful to have gotten this far.. making this piece was an extremely odd process in literally and emotionally and it is physically very unlike anything I’ve done before. big thank you to the possum who left little feet marks on both sides of the chest cavity… love you down by @_taywallart_

album cover design for @re_choice !! working on this project was so dope- i’m super inspired by Finn’s work and his creativity. the first slide is the final cover, the second is the original photo i had taken last fall in ny, and the rest are pics progressing backwards from initial ideas. so excited to collaborate again and am very much looking forward to future albums. go stream Loyal to a Fault ❗️ by @_taywallart_

photogram project !! this class has been a CHALLENGE but it’s also given me the chance to make some of my favorite work ever so i’d say it’s a relatively fair trade. the images are a bit hard to make out, but this set was made using a 1950s Magazine, as well as manyyyyy jewelry supplies and tears taken in McKnight Art Center by @_taywallart_

oil on canvas paper, october ‘22 —— he heard the phrase “objectifying women” once and RAN with it…. this is probably the most odd thing i’ve made. we had a theme of “Monstrosity” for this painting so i came up with some rough sketches and this guy’s face would not leave my head once i sketched him out. i wanted to but a satirical spin on the objectification of women and thought painting literal objectification might get the job done taken in McKnight Art Center by @_taywallart_
