The perils of overthinking!! 🤬 I got caught up deciding on the perfect finish - which hand and cymbal to use. But, I choked and changed my mind last second... with disastrous results 😅! Back to basics: focus on the music, not my thoughts . What’s on your mind while you play drum?!??🤔

🥁 SIX-STROKE ROLL BREAKDOWN 🥁
If you’ve been following my last post, you already know how powerful the six-stroke roll can be when you use it in your fills.

Today, we’re slowing it way down so you can see exactly how I play it.
From above, you’ll notice the smooth flow in my hands and how it stays controlled from start to finish.

STICKING I USE:

KRLRLL
(K = Kick, R = Right Hand, L = Left Hand)

I’m keeping it slow and fluid so you can really watch the motion.
This isn’t about blasting through it fast. It’s about mastering the feel so when you speed it up, it stays clean and powerful.

WHY THIS MATTERS:
• Better control = cleaner fills
• Even strokes make your playing sound pro
• Solid foundation means you can throw this into almost any groove without thinking

Once you’re comfortable, move it around the kit, change the accents, and mix up the voicings. That’s how you keep it creative and make it your own.

This chop is one of my faves. The hard part was fitting this into “my flow.” What I have to do is play what I normally play and then drop the new chop in. It’s more than just looping the pattern. Now I have to add the pattern to my muscle memory. So watch me struggle to figure it out. Yeah, IM STRUGGLING! Lol. I know people don’t usually post this kind of content.
