Are you ready to reach levels of CHILL previously thought to be unattainable? 🥶 Well ready or not, here it comes: The Chill Zone is making it out to Umbrella Weekend ☂️ again looking better than ever! You can climb it for a perfect view of the party, lie down underneath it to give you a cozy spot for a deep conversation, or sit with a perfect 120° incline while meeting new friends. 😊 Just remember to put your drink in the cup holders because “less spillage, more chillage” 😎 See you out there!! by @_the.chill.zone_

🤯 Wow @deserthearts ❤️💜💙 was HUGE for a lot of my friends this year for so many reasons. For me, because I built @_the.chill.zone_ 🧊 right next to the stage for the ENTIRE festival to enjoy! 😎

It was used for so many different types of chilling: as refuge from the blazing Arizona sun ☀️, as a private hideaway for intimate hangouts or even naps 😴, and as an elevated perch to climb on for an incredible view of the whole party 🤠

Although I set it up at Umbrella Weekend 2023 @theafternoonumbrellafriends, it was far from being finished: it was wobbly and sketchy to climb on top of, I didn't have time to figure out the shade, and there weren't chill spots behind the couches. If I was bringing it to Desert Hearts I knew it needed to be 🤌

Thank you to @marbsdh and the DH team for making space for The Chill Zone to be an integral part of the experience, to @doddfather_ for helping me transport the whole damn thing, and ALL my friends who helped me build it, @zellery @gon.__.zo and @trippypants_music to name a few 🛠

If you know me well you know that I often feel like a trapped creative soul. I left Desert Hearts dusty and admittedly a little burnt out, but with an overwhelming sense of artistic accomplishment. It's something I will spend my whole life chasing, but right now, I got it. I'm holding it right here, and it feels fucking incredible ✨️ by @_the.chill.zone_

You got The Chill Zone 😎 by @_the.chill.zone_

Painting 🎨 is never a clean process. Artists know that in pursuit of beauty 🖼 , it can push them to the edges of sanity 😵‍💫

As so was what transpired at the bottom of the paint bucket 🪣. All of the chill zone had been painted but one remaining surface...on the very last piece. With barely enough paint stuck to the insides of the bucket, the roller could not flushly reach. And with no brush 🖌 in sight, the finishing task was assigned to the hand 🖐

Like a maniac, it lashed at the board. Repeatedly, the slaps and the streaks - but then, the last of the paint ⚰️

It looked like a crime scene, a bloody murder 🔪, which, one would reason..is decidedly not chill. 🚫

So the hand took the roller to smooth away the surface, to cover up the secrets of a mind gone insane 😵 by @_the.chill.zone_

Then a careful sanding ⌛️, a lil priming🖌, and we're ready for a quick test build! 👷‍♂️ by @_the.chill.zone_

Mkay we got our hole-y circles ⭕️ Any other shapes we need? Pshhh obvi! 😌

TRIANGLES ⚠️🔺️🔼

The strongest shape will give us support 💪 and the platform for the perch: chilling = elevated ⏫️ by @_the.chill.zone_

Ooooo wee chilled so hard this post came a year late woops!! 😂 Hmmmm, where were we?? 🤔 Oh yes! After cutting, you can't forget to make big holes. 🕳 Because cupholders mean more chillage, less spillage 🍵 by @_the.chill.zone_

Then ya gotta measure 📏 some nicks in the wood 🪵 and CUT ✂️ by @_the.chill.zone_

It all starts with design. Angles? 📐 Numbers?!! 🔢 hehe ye....chill by @_the.chill.zone_
