POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
The most emotional and poignant, and my truly favorite, part of the show? "Live To Tell". Watching @madonna paying tribute to some of the most important men in her life, and the lives of others, who have been lost to HIV/AIDS. This was such a stunning and beautiful collaboration with @theaidsmemorial, one of my favorite social media accounts and posters, sharing the lives and stories of those no longer with us. The cause for HIV/AIDS remembrance, prevention, education, and awareness has been one of the longest of my charitable pursuits, and one of the most personal. In my life I've met some of the most amazing men I've ever made friends with, many of whom live with HIV. If not for the work of @madonna , @amfar , @elizabethtayloraidsfoundation, @raisingmalawi, @ejaf, among many others, they probably wouldn't be here today. It is for them, the stigma still surrounding HIV/AIDS, the efforts of the aforementioned charities/individuals, and the late Diana, Princess of Wales, that I continue my work spreading awareness, and spreading my love, for those we've lost, those we've saved, and for the hope of a cure and an end to AIDS.
. . . . . . . .
Above all, I want to thank @theaidsmemorial for making human and bringing faces to the statistics, for keeping alive the stories of AIDS. For sharing the friends, the lovers, the sisters and brothers, the mothers and fathers, and the children they loved. For sharing their lives. For sharing the love they felt in life. What is remembered lives. Thank you, with all of my heart.

I've been on a massive (MASSIVE) French kick as of late and realized I haven't shared this @ebay find yet. Likely a magazine foldout, this vintage Jean-Jacques Goldman poster is abso-fucking-lutely badass. It's huge. It oozes cool. Alongside @celinedion (who he collaborated with on three albums and many singles), he's easily one of France's greatest singer-songwriters and I've been hooked on him for over 20 years. Such a magician with pen and guitar. His latest collab with Céline, "Dansons", is such an abso-fucking-lute banger. Ugh. So good. Hopefully I'll have this guy framed up alongside a previous acquisition, but until then. . .

Dolly Parton ~ 19th January, 1946 ~ 25th August, 2026
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
The world became a little less flamboyant, fabulous, and colorful, a little less bedecked and bedazzled in rhinestones and sequins today as we now say our fondest goodbyes to the incomparable @dollyparton. I could write paragraphs and pages about the truly amazing work she's done, from shaking the foundations of country music, dominating the silver screen, and inspiring generations of children to read with her literacy programs. But.... I will simply say this. "Home For Christmas" will forever and always be my favorite album, an album I listened to from childhood to adulthood to cheer me up, even in the dead heat of summer, because things weren't always sunny for me. Thank you, Ms. Dolly, for everything. You will truly, truly be so, so much missed. Rest in power.

Bonnie Tyler ~ 8th June, 1951 ~ 8th July, 2026
. . . . . . . . . . . . . .
"It's a heartache, nothing but a heartache, hits you when it's too late, hits you when you're down. . . . . ."
This one hits a little differently. For the world to lose you, even at 75, just feels too young and far too soon. Your bold personality, your commanding raspy vocals, your iconic hair. From your broody hit "It's A Heartache" in 1978, to 1983's iconic "Total Eclipse Of The Heart", to "Holding Out For A Hero" from the "Footloose" soundtrack, to my absolute favorite, "I Can't Leave Your Love Alone"..... I'll forever be linked to "Total Eclipse Of The Heart" due to my Grandma Dawn nicknaming me "Bright Eyes" as a child. Rest in peace, Ms. Tyler, rest in peace. Thank you for all of the memories and bangers we've been jamming to now for almost 5 decades. You will be very much missed.

Diana, Princess of Wales ~ 1st July, 1961 ~ 31st August, 1997
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Today marks what would've been Princess Diana's 65th birthday, so in celebration of her remarkable life, and in memoriam of her tragic passing, I simply will say this: she remains ever a relevant topic of zeitgeist because of her humanitarian passions, her ever iconic sense of style, and the kindness, love, and warmth felt by her presence, with those mesmerizing blue eyes and her charmingly beautiful smile. Even almost 30 years after she left this world behind.
She was, is, and always will be a role model to all in terms of empathy, love, kindness, humility, and style. May her memory continue to inspire and live on in our hearts.

The Queen of hearts, the People's Princess.

Marilyn Monroe - 1st June, 1926 ~ 4th August, 1962
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Few people in history have the distinction of a legacy of immortality. She graced the earth for only 36 years, but her image and art lives on. Even 64 years after her untimely and tragic death she remains a cornerstone of cultural significance. Her presence onscreen, her effervescent and mesmerizing roles as the femme fatale, bubbling and even at times ditsy comedic prowess, her dazzling style both on and off the screen, and the muse of countless photographers, Milton Greene especially. Marilyn Monroe was that girl. The it girl. The immortal icon of style and cultural zeitgeist. She was, is, and always will be THE Blonde Bombshell.
. . . . .
If I had to choose a favorite of her roles, I'd have to choose Lorelei Lee in "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes". She definitely has the makings of an absolute airhead, but she's smarter than you think. Lorelei Lee was DEFINITELY not a dumb blonde. But she was quirky.

Catherine Anne O'Hara
4th March, 1954 ~ 30th January, 2026
. . . . . . . . . . . .
It is with great sadness (and fondness) we say our goodbyes to you. So many countless roles that filled my childhood, all through adulthood. Moira Rose, Sally & Shock, Ludmilla, Delia Deets.... And my personal favorite, the role that gets quoted to me (and every Kevin around the world) the most; Kate McAllister. Hearing someone shout "KEVIN!!!!" will hit so differently from here on out. Thank you, Ms. O'Hara, for everything. For many childhood memories and for your zany, brilliant, comedic ways. We will miss you so, oh so so so very much. Our Canadian comedy Queen.

KEVIN: "I know I don't deserve a Christmas even if I did do a good deed.
I don't want any presents. Instead, I want to take back every mean thing I ever said. to my family...even if they don't do the same. I don't care. I love all of them. Including Buzz. If I can't see all of them, could I just see my mother? I'll never want another thing, ever. I just want my mother. I know it won't be tonight...but promise me I can see her again. Sometime. Anytime. Even if it's just once and only for a few minutes. I need to tell her I'm sorry."

Kate: "Kevin?"

Kevin: "Mom? That worked fast!"

Kate: "Oh, Kevin."

Kevin: " Mom, I'm sorry."

Kate: " I'm sorry too."

Kevin: " Merry Christmas, Mom."

Kate: " Merry Christmas, sweetheart.... "

I'd like to take a moment of reprieve from the doom and gloom of the current state of affairs to share one of my favorite items of clothing to spot in historical portraits: HOODIES! This particular portrait is my abso-fucking-lute favorite example. The contrast of the pale green with bright pink lining is just unbelievably delicious, and the plaid silk damask really adds to the coziness of the look. And those toggles, oh those adorable little (ok, not so little... Average?) toggle buttons and the fringe that frames them are as cute as a button (pun intended.).... And let's not forget the pussy bow that ties the whole look together. 🤣😉 We love a good bow, no?
. . . . . .
This portrait is of Princess Frederika Sophia Wilhelmina of Prussia, who was born in Berlin in August of 1751, and was the niece of King Frederick the Great (of Prussia, of course). By marriage she became the Princess of Orange and relocated to the kingdom of the Netherlands. This particular portrait was painted between 1768-1769 by the artist Johann Georg Ziesenis, most likely at her home, the Het Loo Palace in Apeldoorn, Netherlands. She was the bookish type, no surprise given her royal upbringing she would've had access to the finest education afforded to wealthy young women. (I wonder if she might be reading Voltaire? No? Maybe Rousseau?)... To date she remains the longest serving consort of Orange, and she died in June of 1820 at Het Loo Palace.
