Attic white-ground kylix (work of an anonymous Athenian vase-painter), found in a tomb at Delphi. In the interior, on white ground, Apollo is depicted crowned with a laurel wreath or a wreath of myrtle-leaves over his finely coiffed hair, dressed in white peplos and red himation - unusual in a male figure - draped over his left shoulder and seated on a folding stool (≪ὀκλαδίας δίφρος≫) with legs in the form of lion paws. His left-hand fingers touch the chords of his lyre, while with his right hand he offers libation, pouring wine from a navel-phiale. Opposite him, on a ground-line, stands a black bird, which has been interpreted either as an oracular raven or rook, recalling his mythical love for beautiful Aigle-Koroni, the daughter of king Phlegyas. c. 480-470 BC. Etruscan tomb (95) consisted of a single rectangular burial chamber. The inscription above the entrance (read from right to left) names the tomb's owner (mi laukhusies latinies, 'I [am the tomb] of Laukusie Latinies'). Late 6th century BC. Crocifisso del Tufo Necropolis (Orvieto).
