I ended my 30s much the way I started them… rebuilding.

At 31, I packed up and left California without a backup plan, moving back home feeling broken, defeated, and completely unsure of what the future held.

Little did I know, I was actually preparing for one of the most fulfilling chapters of my life.

The same person who once felt broken slowly became whole again.

I found my confidence, not only as a product developer, but as a woman standing in her power.

This year, I found myself in that same place again.

39 challenged me in ways that brought me to my knees.
I spent so much time spiraling over entering this new decade feeling far from where I thought I’d be in life.

After months of grief and sadness, asking myself why this happened *to* me; I started to understand that it was happening *for* me.

Some of the most pivotal chapters of my life began during the seasons I thought were breaking me. Yet somehow, I always came out stronger because of them.

The difference is that at 31, I was rebuilding because life pushed me there.
At 40, I’m rebuilding on purpose.

This time, I’m choosing alignment, purpose & passion.

Maybe rebuilding was never the setback.
Maybe it was always the beginning of something beautiful.

Now, it’s time to turn the page…

Note from the Editor: 📝

For years, I built beauty products behind the scenes as a chemist & product development expert. This past year, I’ve been rebuilding myself instead.

My life changed unexpectedly.

Over the past 15 months, I lost more than just a job.
I lost my career, my home, and the life I built.

I found myself grieving not just the life I had…
but the version of me attached to it too.

Now, I’m almost 40, back in my childhood home, rebuilding with no clear roadmap—just faith, intention, and dreams.

Honestly…it’s been hard.

But this season has forced me to reevaluate everything:
how I define success,
what truly matters to me,
and who I am outside of achievement and titles.

And somewhere in the middle of that, this page came into existence.

The Fatima Edit became a space where all of those worlds now meet: beauty, wellness, mindful living, reinvention, and honest conversations about rebuilding.

I’ll still share beauty through the lens of a chemist and beauty insider…

But I also want to share the healing, the rituals, the lessons, and the messy middle in between.

I don’t want to contribute to the pressure, perfection, and performative nature of social media.

I want to show what rebuilding actually looks like.

So if you’re in a season of rebuilding too, I hope you stay.

Maybe we can heal, grow, and redefine what beauty even means together.

Leopard or tortoise? Either way, 100% chic. 🐆🤎🐢

Here’s how to get the look:

1. Start with a sheer amber or caramel jelly base. Cure.
2. Add blooming gel follow by irregular spots of warm caramel brown.
3. Add a few darker espresso spots for dimension.
4. Layer a sheer brown jelly polish over the design to create depth & blend the spots (not pictured in video).
5. Finish with a high-gloss top coat for that luxe, glassy finish.

did you know you can just…exercise your free will and make yourself happy??

like no one is stopping you from snuggling in bed a little longer. getting a little coffee. buying yourself flowers. playing with your makeup. taking yourself to a fancy dinner. booking the trip. wearing the outfit. going for a walk just because it’s nice out. eating froyo at 3pm.

sometimes happiness is just a *sweet treat* you gift yourself on harder days. it’s called: self care.

My blush hack: “invisible blush” ✨🖌️

Invisible because it’s barely there—no obvious placement, no harsh edges, just a soft flush that looks like it belongs to your skin.

It’s a little product developer trick: blend the products. Combining your powder blush with setting powder diffuses the pigment and melts everything together for that blurred, seamless finish.

The best part is that this works with any powder blush + pressed or loose setting powder.

A little cosmetic chemist PSA 👩🏻‍🔬💄🚨

Consumers, influencers, media, brands—we have to stop turning individual ingredients into “good” or “bad” without context. The ingredient hypocrisy is exhausting. We demonize an ingredient in one category, celebrate it in another, and end up contradicting ourselves depending on the product.

Titanium dioxide is a perfect example: it’s a pigment/colorant and is also widely used as a UV filter in mineral sunscreens.

Dose, route of exposure, formulation + intended use all matter. An ingredient name alone doesn’t tell you whether a product is safe.

“Free from,” “non-toxic” and “clean” marketing have made it very easy for nuance to become fear…and fear to become a selling point.

Read the science. Don’t believe everything you see on the internet.

As a lip product formulator + product developer, I’m VERY particular about texture. I hate anything heavy on my lips—I’m a lip balm and Laneige girly through and through.

Why I love this gloss: medium, buildable color with a plush, cushiony feel that isn’t sticky or heavy. The liner is a soft, sharpenable crayon with high color payoff + hours of wear.

Basically, color without sacrificing comfort. My kind of lip products! 💋
