Takeo.K – Home Is Everywhere and Nowhere at Once The debut album by Japan–born, Naarm/Melbourne–based artist Takeo.K is out January 30 on Theory Therapy as a limited CD release, designed by the inimitable @lucas__dupuy “[A] strikingly patient debut of intimate vocals, shimmering guitar and gauzy electronics floating hazily in the grey area between shoegaze, dub, and downtempo. “Home Is Everywhere and Nowhere at Once” threads together a suite of songs that drift through questions of loss, identity, displacement, inquiring into the universal through the personal.” The first single ‘Call me (when yr heart is empty)’ is available on Bandcamp now, accompanied by a short music video. Theory Therapy 101: @ghosttropics Warm, melancholic sounds for staying in "I was in a pretty emotional state when I recorded this one. I recorded it over the last long weekend of the summer, when I should have been at a festival dancing with all of my friends, but was instead stuck at home with a chronic pain flare up that periodically has a big affect on my mobility. I was definitely feeling a bit bad for myself, with a deep sense of longing for that deep level of human connection I knew I was missing out on that weekend, so I decided to put it all into my mix. It was incredibly therapeutic for me, and when it was finished I actually felt much better, like I did something meaningful and found my own way to connect with the world even if it wasn’t on the dancefloor." Theory Therapy 100: @mil_llu I genuinely can’t think of anyone better to have on for the 100th mix in the series. Millú is one of Australia’s finest DJs and a pillar of the independent music scene here. She’s been such a big supporter of the label for many years now and is a huge source of inspiration for us, so it feels fitting to have her here for this milestone. It’s funny how things can evolve. Back in 2019, Dan first suggested the idea of doing a mix series, and I had at best a vague outline of what it could be. I definitely had no idea it’d still be going nearly seven years later, let alone how much it would grow through everyone who’s contributed along the way. Thank you to everyone who’s listened, contributed and helped make the series what it is over the years. I’m really grateful that it’s found its way into so many people’s lives, and I hope it’s brought a little more light into yours. Enjoy this extremely special one from Millú. by @_theorytherapy
