LIFE LESSONS FROM MY SMALL PEOPLE! As we juggle half term the best we can, a little reminder from my small people…💙 If at first you don’t succeed… try, try, try again! Although, I’m not entirely convinced practice will make perfect in this case! The Pilates principles have well and truly gone out of the window! But perhaps that’s the lesson in itself…🤔 Keep moving, keep trying, keep believing and most importantly, don’t be too hard on yourself if you don’t get it right the first time. Sometimes it’s not about getting it perfect. It’s about having the confidence to give it a go, laughing along the way and getting back up to try again! Progress over perfection…Always! 8 MONTHS OF THE PILATES SPACE! Yesterday marked 8 months since we opened our doors, and what an incredible journey it’s been! As a small, independently owned studio, our growth is built on our reputation, your experiences and the wonderful community we’ve created together. Every month, we welcome new faces, but what makes me equally proud is seeing familiar faces returning week after week. That’s down to hard work, dedication and passionate instructors who genuinely care about your practice and experience. So today, I’m asking one little favour… 🤍 If you have five minutes, would you consider leaving us a Google review? Simply search The Pilates Space on Google! Your words mean more than you realise. Perhaps someone is nervous about trying Pilates, lacking confidence or wondering whether they’ll fit in. Your review might be what encourages them to take that first step through our doors. And who knows what a difference that could make to their physical and mental wellbeing? We don’t have enormous marketing budgets, but we do have something special. YOU! Thank you for helping our little studio grow into something beyond my expectations. More than Pilates. A community, a connection and a place to belong. MOVE • CONNECT • BELONG by @_thepilatesspace_
THE ART OF CUEING IN PILATES 🧘‍♀️ Question 🙋‍♀️ Are you listening to your instructor, or simply copying what you see? In Pilates, every cue has a purpose. Teachers use different types of guidance to help you understand how to move, where to focus and why each exercise matters. 🗣️ VERBAL CUES explain alignment, technique, breathing and muscle engagement. 🧠 KINAESTHETIC CUES help you feel movement through imagery, such as imagining your spine peeling from the mat one vertebra at a time. 🎵 AUDITORY CUES use rhythm, counting, tone and breath to support timing, coordination and flow. 🤲 TACTILE CUES, always with your consent, provide gentle physical feedback to clarify positioning or engagement. These cues help you develop body awareness, control and a stronger mind-body connection. Pilates is not about copying movements; it is about learning to move with intention. Everyone learns differently, so instructors adapt their language and teaching style to support each person. Next time you attend class, try this: PAUSE. LISTEN. PROCESS. MOVE. Before looking around, focus on the instruction and notice how your body responds. You may feel more, understand more and gain more from your practice. At The Pilates Space, we don’t just teach exercises. We teach you how to understand your body. Move • Connect • Belong *video sped up for socials* by @_thepilatesspace_
REFORMER PREP 🤍 A little sneak peek into our flow to start the week! Building strong foundations, finding our flow and moving with control, concentration and intention. Reformer Prep is all about learning, understanding and developing confidence in your practice…NO rushing…NO pressure, just beautiful, mindful movement at your own pace. Because sometimes the simplest movements, done well, are the most effective! Move • Connect • Belong @_thepilatesspace_ **video sped up for socials** by @_thepilatesspace_
✨ WHEN CLASSICAL & CONTEMPORARY BLEND SO PERFECTLY! ✨ We’re pausing to reflect on some of the incredible flows we’ve enjoyed over the last few weeks at The Pilates Space. Classical Pilates exercises, explored a little differently. Fun variations, creative transitions and a sprinkle of imagination, all while staying rooted in the principles that make Pilates so special. Pilates doesn’t have to be rigid or look the same every time. There’s room to explore, to play, to challenge ourselves and to find new ways to move, all while maintaining the foundations of control, concentration, centering precision, breath and flow. 🤍 Honouring the classical foundations ✨ Embracing contemporary creativity 💫 Finding the perfect balance For us, it’s about bringing the best of both worlds together, creating thoughtful, intelligent movement that challenges the body, engages the mind and keeps our practice fresh, exciting and purposeful. EVERY exercise has intention! EVERY variation has a reason! EVERY class is an opportunity to learn a little more about our bodies and what they’re capable of! That’s the beauty of Pilates. There’s always something new to discover, no matter where you are on your journey. Classical roots…Contemporary creativity…One beautiful practice. Xx by @_thepilatesspace_

WORLD MENTAL HEALTH DAY | THE PILATES SPACE Today, we pause to reflect on our mental health, the people we love, those we may have lost and anyone quietly struggling behind a smile. If that’s you today, please know: We see you..We feel you..We’ve got you ♥️ Mental health is a huge part of why I started The Pilates Space. My own Pilates journey began with mental wellbeing at its heart, helping me find peace when life felt overwhelming. That purpose continues to shape everything we create here. Pilates offers incredible physical benefits, but in a world full of pressure and constant demands, having somewhere to switch off, reconnect with yourself and simply breathe is invaluable. Our community means so much to me. I adore watching clients grow physically stronger, but I’m equally proud of the kindness, openness and understanding they bring into the studio. Mental health isn’t only anxiety or depression. It can be the lack of confidence that stops you trying something new, the fear of judgement, insecurity, uncertainty or self doubt. These feelings matter, too! They deserve kindness, understanding and acceptance. Our clients often tell us: ✨ I feel safe ✨ I feel comfortable ✨ I feel understood ✨ I feel valued ✨ I feel accepted That means EVERYTHING to me 😌 Watching someone arrive feeling nervous, then gradually grow in confidence, self belief and belonging is the real magic ✨ The Pilates Space is about more than movement. It’s about connection and creating a space where you can simply be yourself. Sometimes..showing up is enough! Let’s keep checking in, listening and caring for one another. We never know what someone else may be carrying. Xx by @_thepilatesspace_

✨ Sunday Stretch & Sound — The Christmas Edit ✨ Christmas is lovely… but December can also feel A LOT. 🤎 The shopping, the wrapping, the lists, the plans, the organising… and somehow we can end up right at the bottom of it all. So on Sunday 20th December, we are creating an hour that’s just for you. A chance to step out of the Christmas rush for a little while and move, stretch, breathe, rest and reset. Emma will begin the session with gentle Mat Pilates stretch work, helping to release tension, lengthen the body and create space. Then we’ll move from movement into stillness as Carly guides you through a deeply restorative Soma Sound Bath with crystal singing bowls, grounding percussion, delicate chimes and ethereal vocals. One hour before Christmas asks everything of you. A little gift to yourself before the final festive week begins. 🎁 🗓 Sunday 20th December 📍 The Pilates Space, Boroughbridge Session times: 8:30–9:30am 9:45–10:45am ✨ £25 per person ✨ Just 5 places per session Places are intentionally limited to keep the experience calm and intimate.
