Yesterday was a day well spent at Day 3 of NASS Open Week 2026 – Youth Town Hall. Grateful for the opportunity to be in a room where young voices were heard and meaningful conversations helped shape the future we all envision. Ending the day at the Dinner & Cocktails reception made it even more memorable. Here’s to more spaces that inspire dialogue, collaboration, and impact. 🎉❤️

In Transcorp Hilton, Abuja, Two years ago at the pageantry stage that doubled up as the African Iconic Women Recognition Award stage (AIWRA) too... I spoke with confidence, and purpose... reminding young girls that beauty shines brightest when it carries a message. ✨❤️🥰

Together for change. I was at the National Assembly advocating for the Special Seat Bill, following the Speaker’s opening of the Gender Desk. I remain grateful for the opportunity to serve as a committee member and to advance the principles of inclusivity. We were also honored by the presence of the Deputy Speaker.

My heartfelt appreciation goes out to all stakeholders, advocates, and champions who continue to push tirelessly for this bill. Special thanks to those sponsoring and supporting the legislation, your commitment is paving the way for a more inclusive and representative future.

Another day for the books!!! Clean Energy is a must❤️🇳🇬
I witnessed the commissioning of the 3MW Captive Solar Hybrid Power Project at my alma mater.

It feels so good to have been part of this wonderful experience and watch it reach this milestones.

I'll keep saying it, never underestimate the power of a woman, we can thrive is any field!!!

Three years later, I’m back where the journey began. 💚☀️

In 2023, I was privileged to be one of 20 female students selected for a hands-on solar installation STEM Internship at the University of Abuja. The programme combined weekly online theoretical classes, assessments and practical site training.

It wasn’t always easy balancing the training with university classes or returning to school during holidays for practical sessions, but I truly learnt a lot. More importantly, the experience broadened my horizons and introduced me to a field I never imagined myself being part of.

Coming back three years later to witness the commissioning of the project was a beautiful full-circle moment. I’m grateful for the opportunity, the lessons, the support, the care and everyone who made the experience memorable.

This is a reminder that sometimes, an opportunity can introduce you to a world you never knew you could be part of. ✨

There is a certain kind of peace that comes from realizing that not everything is meant to be forced.

Sometimes, we hold on too tightly to people, plans, opportunities, conversations, friendships, relationships, or even dreams because we have already imagined how they should turn out. We keep pushing, explaining, convincing, waiting, trying again and again… hoping that more effort will somehow make everything fall into place.

But life has a funny way of showing us the difference between something that needs effort and something that needs force.

Effort feels like growth.
Force feels like exhaustion.

Effort may require patience, consistency and courage. But force often leaves you constantly questioning, overthinking and wondering why something that should feel right requires so much struggle just to exist.

Not everything that leaves is a loss. Not everything that doesn’t happen is a failure. Sometimes, things simply don’t flow because they were never meant to go in that direction.

And perhaps that’s the lesson: to know when to try harder, and when to step back.

Because what flows naturally doesn’t mean it will always be easy. It simply means you aren’t constantly fighting to make it exist.

Some things are worth pursuing.
Some things are worth waiting for.
And some things are worth letting go.

Maybe peace begins when we stop forcing the things that were never flowing in the first place.

Thoughts from Shade. 🤍

I attended the ARRIVES Project Community Outreach today at the 2020 Hotel, Abuja.

The ARRIVES Project provides reintegration support and a safe landing for Nigerians in Germany who wish to return home, while also creating awareness around migration, reintegration, community development and the realities of returning. @arrives_program

Grateful for the opportunity to be part of this important dialogue and to bring the perspective of young Nigerians to the conversation.

Honoured to meet UN Peace Ambassador, Ms. Maryam Alhassan @alhanislam and connect with Solape Sonuga @sholape__ ! Hearing Ms. Alhassan speak directly was incredibly inspiring. I have always loved listening to her beautiful notes. Thank you, Ma, for your wise and kind words. So glad I attended the LMI Youth Town Hall, absolutely worth it! LMI is truly building the leaders of tomorrow. 🇳🇬💼 #LMIYouthTownHall #leadershipdevelopment #sharinj by @_therealshade

What looked like one minute on stage was the result of weeks of preparation, teamwork, and dedication.

It was an honour to be part of the creative performance, "I Am Woman" at National Assembly Open Week 2026, using art to amplify a message of leadership, inclusion, and advocacy.

Special thanks to @yetunde_gold whose coordination, leadership, and attention to detail made this performance possible.

I was also privileged to meet and connect with so many inspiring young women, each passionate about creating positive change in their own unique way.

Grateful for every lesson, every rehearsal, and everyone who made this experience unforgettable. Here’s to many more opportunities to create impact. ✨🇳🇬

One more, A beautiful corner of the National Assembly. 🇳🇬

The National Assembly Library @naltf_ng isn’t just aesthetically pleasing—it’s a reminder that informed decisions begin with knowledge. From its rich collection of books to the historical photographs, archives, and displays that preserve our legislative journey, every corner has a story to tell.

We were told there’s even more to explore, and I look forward to experiencing it all on my next visit.

The day concluded with the NASS Open Week Dinner & Cocktails—a fitting close to an inspiring week. It was an honour to be present alongside distinguished dignitaries as we celebrated another successful edition of NASS Open Week.

Every visit leaves me inspired to keep learning, growing, and serving. by @_therealshade
