I am deeply honored to share that PA Humanities has named me a 2026 Window Keeper through its Window Keepers: Civic Honors initiative.
This recognition means so much because it honors the work I care about most: preserving history, listening to people, and sharing the stories that help us understand the places we call home. Thank you, Darci, for nominating me. ❤️ I am looking forward to meeting the rest of the Window Keepers in November.

Christine Musser turns historical research into action, whether writing successful state historical marker nominations, documenting African American history at Lincoln Cemetery, interpreting the past as resident historian at Allenberry Resort, or preserving local stories through books and podcasts. Through efforts ranging from rallying the community to save historic places to uncovering and sharing overlooked stories, Musser helps people understand what makes their communities significant and gives them opportunities to help protect that heritage for the future.

The Autumn season doesn't just come & go without telling us who we are. This coming Thursday, on The Wandering Pen Podcast, listen to what
Keats and Eliot. Van Gogh, Millais, Neil Diamond & and Mumford & Sons have in common.
You will also learn about the science behind why autumn evokes feelings of nostalgia, melancholy, and memory.

I’m beginning to work on another book about Silver Spring Township. This book will focus on historic properties that remain and those now gone.

While my last book focused on the past this book will focus on the present and highlight how the landscape has changed.

I want to hear from current and former residents about life in Silver Spring Township how it has changed over the years, favorite memories, and family stories.

I will also be collecting photographs during in-person interviews (I will bring a photo scanner with me, so your treasured originals never leave your hands).

If you’d like to share your story or schedule an interview, please email me at: contact@thewanderingpen.net or call 717.219.3892

If you know anyone who isn't on social media, please share this information with them.

250 years ago, the U.S. Army was born. It's the first colonel's courage that helped define our military's DNA. His name deserves to be remembered.
