@bose has returned to wired earbuds with a USB-C noise-cancelling model that draws power from the connected device, so there’s no separate earbud battery to charge.

The 128cm cable, inline remote and microphone are part of the setup, alongside three listening modes: Quiet, Aware and ANC Off. The USB-C connection will need to suit the device you use.

For Electric’s DJs, wired listening is familiar in the booth; the question is whether it has appeal beyond it. Bose says playback output is fixed at 24-bit/48kHz and describes its SoundDesign processing as supporting lossless audio listening.

But the everyday choice may be simpler: would avoiding another battery to charge be enough to bring a cable back into your listening routine?

We're excited to confirm that pre-registration is now open for our next Female Takeover week, returning from 14th–18th October.

The initiative follows our first edition last year, which featured more than 20 female DJs across the electronic music spectrum.

From house and techno to trance, drum & bass and experimental sets, listeners discovered new names and heard what made each DJ’s music her own.

The takeover aims to creates space for more women in electronic music, championing grassroots talent and improving diversity and representation.

Registration is open until 23:59 UK time on 30th September 2026. No mix is required at this stage and selected DJs will be contacted by email with their slot and further information.

Those taking part will also have access to Electric's advanced DJ toolkit, including Live Studio and Social Manager tools. These allow DJs to prepare and record mixes, add voice, present their show live and create promotional artwork for social media.

DJs will also be featured in Electric's takeover artwork and social coverage.

The takeover is open to women at different stages of their DJ journey, giving participants the opportunity to broadcast through Electric and share their music with its audience and the wider community.

Our initiative aims to increase representation and provide opportunities for DJs to showcase their work. Further details will be provided to selected participants ahead of the takeover.

Ready to apply? Head to the link in our bio to pre-register today

Youth Music has invested more than £1 million directly into aspiring artists across the UK through its NextGen Fund.

The charity launched the programme in 2021 to help young musicians aged 18 to 25 overcome some of the financial barriers involved in developing a career in music.

The fund provides grants of up to £3,000, supporting young artists with projects including music releases, videos, live events and other career development.

So far, funding has helped create 882 tracks, 147 EPs and albums, 176 music videos and 254 events. According to Youth Music, 54% of artists who have received funding have since secured jobs in music. 96% of recipients also reported that the fund helped them make things happen independently.

Sister Bliss also spoke about the importance of access to music in our recent interview, highlighting grassroots projects and organisations such as Youth Music that help young people get involved. For Sister Bliss, supporting access at an early stage is an important part of creating opportunities for the next generation of artists.

The NextGen Fund is one example of how direct funding can help young artists develop their music and take steps towards careers in the industry.
