When we left FHU’s campus last Friday, I had no idea how greatly my life would be changed. This was my first ever mission trip and I have never had a greater experience in my life. When we stepped onto Ohio State’s campus it was like stepping into a different country. Coming from our bubble at FHU I had the unfounded belief that everyone at least knew about Jesus. The more people I talked to each day, the more I realized that wasn’t true. I wasn’t sure what to expect as the week progressed. We talked to hundreds of students, yet none of them showed up. I couldn’t help but think everything we had done wouldn’t be fruitful. As we sat at our final event on Thursday night, three students came in that weren’t a part of Buckeyes for Christ. In that moment I realized everything was worth it. All the people we talked to, fliers we handed out, and conversations we had had paid off. We didn’t have baptisms every night or 100 people show up to our events, but those three were enough. They made me realize that numbers did not equate to success. One soul that was reached means we had accomplished our mission. One more soul takes a completely different perspective for me after this mission trip. Once more, then forever.

wow. words can not express the love that i have for Maywood Christian Camp. the past forever as a camper has felt like a lifetime and knowing this was my last time as a camper is bittersweet. i’m so thankful for all the memories made over the years and especially the ones this week. the Godly influences and strengthening my faith have meant everything to me. the relationships and bonds i’ve made with people here will last a lifetime. there were many firsts this year like the Lodge giving our pet fish, Leroy Jenkins Jr. 3rd, a funeral. I’m forever grateful for this place and these people. Maywood will always feel like home to me and i can’t wait for my first year as a counselor. until then peace out Maywood
