Temporary Housing Support for Hawk Fire Evacuees

United Way of Northern Nevada and the Sierra is partnering with Airbnb.org, a nonprofit dedicated to providing emergency housing during times of crisis, to help residents displaced by the Hawk Fire access free temporary housing.

How it works:

Partners identify residents who need emergency, temporary housing and connects them with Airbnb.org.

Airbnb.org provides eligible families with credits to book a temporary Airbnb stay that meets their needs.

Through this partnership, families can access a network of Airbnb listings and generous hosts in and around the impacted areas.

All eligible stays are free for guests and funded by Airbnb.org.

Today, we join millions around the world in remembering the extraordinary life of Dolly Parton. ♥️

Dolly started the Imagination Library in honor of her father, who never had the opportunity to learn to read or write. What began as one daughter’s tribute to her dad became a gift to millions of children around the world.

We have been incredibly fortunate to see that legacy up close. Here in El Dorado County, more than 4,600 children have been enrolled and over 50,000 books have arrived in local mailboxes, each one addressed to a child who gets to call it their own.

It’s hard to imagine a more beautiful legacy. Dolly made children feel seen, special, and worthy of a world full of stories.

We are so grateful our community became a small part of her very big dream. Her songs will live on, but so will generations of readers. ♥️📚

Northern Nevada is once again facing the heartbreak and uncertainty brought by a fast-moving wildfire. ⁠
⁠
The Hawk Fire has burned more than 15,000 acres and remains 0% contained. Nearly 90,000 residents are under evacuation orders or warnings, and six people, including three first responders, have been injured. ⁠
⁠
Our hearts are with everyone forced to leave home and with every family waiting for answers. We are deeply grateful to the first responders, volunteers, nonprofit partners, and government agencies who are working tirelessly to protect our community. ⁠
⁠
The 2026 Northern Nevada Wildfire Relief Fund supports local organizations that assist affected residents throughout the long-term recovery process. ⁠
