Welcome to Sumud Project.

My name is Ammar Alqahwaji, and I am the founder and field lead of Sumud Project, working directly from Gaza.

Many of you followed our previous Instagram page, where together we built a community of more than 18,900 supporters from around the world. Unfortunately, that account was lost to Meta, but our work on the ground never stopped.

Through Sumud Project, we continue to support displaced families, children, and vulnerable members of our community through humanitarian initiatives, emergency assistance, food distribution, water projects, educational activities, and psychosocial support.

This page will serve as our new home for sharing updates, documenting our work, and connecting with supporters who believe in solidarity, dignity, and hope.

Thank you to everyone who has stood with us throughout this journey. We invite you to follow, share, and help us rebuild this community so that the voices of Gaza and the stories of those we serve continue to be heard.

26 ARTICLES OF IMPEACHMENT. AND THAT’S ONLY THE BEGINNING.

Donald Trump has now been targeted with 26 new articles of impeachment — introduced by Democratic Rep. Steve Cohen on September 24, 2026.

The resolution accuses Trump of a sweeping range of alleged abuses, including abuse of executive power, violations of his constitutional oath, military actions, immigration policies, withholding congressional funds, interference with the press, use of presidential pardons, and alleged personal financial benefit from the presidency.

Trump has already been impeached twice — in 2019 over Ukraine-related conduct and in 2021 following January 6 — with the Senate acquitting him both times.

Now, 26 more articles are on the table.

26 allegations.
One presidency.
And a Congress facing the question of how far it is willing to go to check presidential power.

Two-thirds of former Palestinian child detainees report being held in solitary confinement — for up to 45 days. Queen Rania said that figure stopped her cold. It should stop all of us.

Children ripped from their homes in the middle of the night. Handcuffed, blindfolded, hauled before military courts. Assaulted. Threatened with rape. Kept underfed, isolated, afraid. A UN Commission of Inquiry has already confirmed it: torture, of children, in Israeli custody.

Walid Ahmad was 17. He died after six months in Israeli detention. An autopsy found he’d been starved. An Israeli judge closed the case anyway. His body is still being held — a prisoner even in death, his family denied the right to bury him.

Queen Rania’s question wasn’t rhetorical: “I just don’t understand what is so ‘terrifying about Palestinian children.’” There is no threat here that justifies this. There is only a system that has decided cruelty toward Palestinian children is acceptable, as long as no one makes it stop.

Children belong in schools, not cells. Say it again, until the world finally listens.

HE’S 19. HE’S BEEN DISPLACED EIGHT TIMES SINCE OCTOBER 7TH. THIS IS HIS STORY, IN HIS OWN WORDS.

Ammar is 19. Somehow, his whole family is still alive, both parents, two sisters, two brothers. He calls that lucky. That’s what luck looks like in Gaza now: everyone still breathing.

Eight displacements. Not once. Eight times, since October 7th. Right now, home is a fabric tent on the beach in Al-Mawasi. Each move harder than the last, not because he’s used to it, but because there’s less left every time to carry.

He says it plainly: losing your home, your friend, your family, that’s not normal. It shouldn’t be normal. There are people whose entire families have been erased from the civil registry. People with no one left but themselves.

And still — his words, not ours — “we thank God in all circumstances. We keep going, and we refuse to give up.”

A 19-year-old shouldn’t have to have this kind of resilience.
He shouldn’t have needed to build it in the first place.

This is just a piece of Ammar’s story.

Aquest mes de setembre, l’Ammar @_vg.ii ha entregat 40 bosses amb 10 tipus diferents d’aliments a famílies d’un camp de refugiats allunyat de casa seva. És un camp força oblidat on, les condicions encara són més dures que en zones més cèntriques.

🇵🇸 “500 FAMILIES ATE DURING RAMADAN BECAUSE OF ONE DONOR. NOW THAT DONOR IS IN PRISON.”

What happens to humanitarian projects when the person funding them suddenly disappears?

In this episode, Ammar Al-Kahwaji explains how Jim Chambers’ support helped the Sumud Project provide meals to 500 families in Gaza during Ramadan, while also supporting other humanitarian initiatives.

But with Chambers now in prison, Ammar says the impact goes beyond one project:

“I don’t know how that level of support can return or be replaced.”

The plan was to expand to reach more families and provide greater support to people in Gaza. Now, the future of that support is uncertain.

Behind every funding decision are real people: families who need food, communities that need assistance, and humanitarian workers trying to keep programs running under extraordinary circumstances.

What happens when one donor disappears?
Who fills the gap?
And what happens to the families who were depending on that support?

In this teaser from my latest episode of Real Talk, I speak with Ammar Al-Kahwaji, the 19-year-old founder of the Sumud Project, joining me from Khan Younis in southern Gaza.

Ammar has been displaced eight times since October 7. His home, school and community in Bani Suheila were destroyed, and he now lives with his family in a tent in Al-Mawasi.

Yet despite everything, he continues working to help families across Gaza.

Since launching the Sumud Project in May 2025, Ammar says he has completed 49 humanitarian initiatives, providing food, water, clothing, tents and emergency support, while also supporting schools, kindergartens and children.

A central part of our conversation is the story of James “Jim” Chambers, an American donor currently detained in Spain following a U.S. extradition request.

Ammar shares how he first connected with Jim, how a $10,000 donation helped provide 50 meals a day for 10 consecutive days during Ramadan, supporting 500 families, and what the loss of that support now means for Sumud and other humanitarian initiatives.

But this conversation is about much more than one donor.

It is about displacement, survival, humanitarian work, loss and resilience.

And it is about a 19-year-old whose dream is remarkably simple:

To live in peace.
To have a home.
To see his family safe.
And to live without fear.

En aquesta acció l'Ammar i els seus veïns van preparar un àpat comunitari per compartir una estona junts.

Es van fer 255 racions de menjar acompanyat d'un refresc. Es volia tancar l'acte amb un cinema a la fresca a la nit, però per aquest cop no va ser possible.

Aquestes accions comunitàries reforcen els vincles entre els nous veïnatges que es creen als camps improvisats de desplaçats i gent a qui han destruït la casa.

Voldria destacar que els recursos se'ns estan acabant, gastem més del qual ens dona el teaming. Ens caldria triplicar els Teamers per mantenir un ritme semblant, 1 ajuda al mes.

En esta acción Ammar y sus vecinos prepararon una comida comunitaria para compartir un rato juntos.

Se realizaron 255 raciones de comida acompañada de un refresco. Se quería cerrar el acto con un cine al aire libre por la noche, pero por esta vez no fue posible.

Estas acciones comunitarias refuerzan los vínculos entre las nuevas aldeas que se crean en los campos improvisados de desplazados y gente a la que han destruido la casa.

Quisiera destacar que los recursos se nos están acabando, gastamos más del que nos da el teaming. Habría que triplicar a los Teamers para mantener un ritmo parecido, 1 ayuda al mes.

In this initiative, Ammar and his neighbors prepared a community meal to spend time together.

They served 255 meals, each accompanied by a soft drink. They had planned to conclude the event with an open-air cinema screening that evening, but unfortunately, that wasn't possible this time.

These community initiatives strengthen the bonds between the new villages being created in makeshift camps for displaced people and those whose homes have been destroyed.

I would like to emphasize that our resources are running out; we are spending more than the teaming fundraiser provides. We would need to triple the number of team members to maintain a similar level of support, which is currently one donation per month.

Ahir divendres dia 17 de juliol, l'Ammar @_vg.ii va fer la iniciativa num 25.

Ha comprat i repartit a 44 families, packs de 8 kg de fruites i verdures. En total uns 350kg.

El menjar a Gaza segueix molt car, amb preus que superen els Europeus, per això és important continuar amb l'ajuda.

Us demanem tota l'ajuda possible, ja sogui a través del Teaming amb l'aportació de 1€ al mes o amb un donatiu puntual a través del "Mi Grano de Arena".

He bought and distributed 8 kg packs of fruits and vegetables to 44 families. In total, about 350 kg.

Food in Gaza remains very expensive, with prices exceeding those in Europe, which is why it's important to continue providing aid.
