Starting a business is actually quite embarrassing…

You’re basically asking people to believe in something before there’s much proof it’s going to work.

So if you’re building something too, post it, talk about it and accept being a little cringe for a while. You’re probably thinking about it way more than anyone else is anyway x

building a dog walking business with 0 clients? I got you x

#dogwalkingbusiness #dogwalker #smallbusinessuk #petbusiness #londondogwalker

1. I started putting myself where dog owners were, cafés, vets, groomers and local events. think about the type of client you want to attract: where do they go, what do they do, where would they actually notice you?

manifesting is great but unfortunately they do need to know you exist first ✨

2. I wanted the business to look cute and feel like something I’d trust my own dog with. but branding only gets you interested. meet & greets, insurance, canine first aid, clear communication and actually showing up are what get the booking over the line.

3. anyone can offer a dog walk. the question is: why would someone choose you? what value are you adding that someone else isn’t? think about your personality, experience, communication style and the little things that make your service feel different.

4. I started actually making time for social media instead of squeezing it in whenever I remembered. I treated content like part of the business. filming the bts, sharing the dogs and documenting the journey. and it’s now brought me enquiries I probably never would’ve reached otherwise.

think of your socials like your shop window. if someone lands on your page, does it give them a reason to stay?

literally no one was booking dog walks at first… it was random drop-ins and pet sits. but those bookings gave me experience, content, recommendations and client relationships.

apparently step one of starting a dog walking business is… not walking dogs x

it didn’t happen overnight, and I’m still very much figuring it out…but those first few clients were the proof I needed that it could actually work.

basically: keep going, keep showing up, keep yapping about your business ✨ by @_walkswithemma

I started a dog walking business with 0 clients. What have I done?

A few weeks later and things are looking a little different…
