POSTS STORIES REELS

Hey y’all! I’m Melissa and it’s been a hot minute since I’ve introduced myself!

I have been a part of the bookstagram community for over 2 years and I have met so many wonderful people (via here and in person)! I mostly post book reviews, but I am always looking for fun ways to share what I am reading.

I read basically any genres, but you’ll find that I mostly read Romance, Romantasy, Thriller, and Historical Fiction. I am an e-reader and an audiobook listener! But I also enjoy having physical copies for my shelf.

Let me know if we have anything in common! I’m happy you’re here 😍 by @_whatmelissareads

✨ A little A Court of Splintered Harmony inspired nail moment! ✨

I’m absolutely in love with how these turned out! The colors and details give me all the vibes, but I can’t help wishing I’d had my physical copy of A Court of Splintered Harmony with me so I could match the pink a little more perfectly. But I am so impressed with the ombré and details! I feel like I was a little late to the game on the nails this time, but I couldn’t get them done until today! Looking forward to starting this one this weekend (as soon as I finish my reread of A Court of Silver Flames)!

Had to bring one of my favorite dragons to life with this 3D print of Tairn from Fourth Wing 🖤🐉

There’s just something about seeing this powerful, intimidating, absolutely massive dragon come to life outside the pages of a book. He now has a new home right on my bookshelf.

Threshing Day has renewed my love of Fourth Wing! I actually thought about making a red one since I bonded with one, but Tairn is so mysterious to me. I know there are lots of theories surrounding him and the other dragons. I cannot wait to dive back into this series (hopefully next year???).

Lots of Threshing Day love over the last two weeks and I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to get my nails done in honor! #booknails #threshingdaynails #bookstagram by @_whatmelissareads

📚 BOOK REVIEW 📚

Burn of the Everflame - Penn Cole
⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

Burn of the Everflame was such a bittersweet finale. I may be in the minority with my rating.

Overall, I really enjoyed how this series came to an end, and I thought the ending was perfectly done. That said… this book was LONG. 😅 There were definitely moments where the pacing felt painfully slow, and I found myself wondering if we really needed quite so many pages.

I am also not a fan of the miscommunication or withholding information, which seemed to last 700 pages - UGH! But there was a lot of emotional rollercoasters throughout and plot twists that kept me going.

What surprised me was how quickly everything seemed to happen toward the end. I kept seeing people say this book absolutely destroyed them, so I was prepared to be emotionally wrecked… and while I definitely got emotional, I almost felt like the biggest moments happened so quickly after such a slow build-up.

Still, I loved where everything ultimately landed, and the ending felt right. It’s always a little sad saying goodbye to a series you’ve invested so much time into, but I’m happy with how Penn Cole wrapped this one up.

My dragon needed a permanent place on my feed.

Meet my baby (literally - she’s a baby)! I bonded with her on my first try and I had no idea that people were being scorched multiple times.

This was so fun and such a genius idea by Rebecca! I’ve loved the conversations over the last few days with my friends here on bookstagram about our bonded dragons (or lack there of).

Anyone in the same squad as me?! Next comes our signets! #threshingday #fourthwing #rebeccayarros #bondeddragon by @_whatmelissareads

She’s HERE! 🔥📖 Burn of the Everflame finally arrived in the mail today, and it’s gorgeous. I started reading on KU during my hair appointment today and I’m already hooked.

But can we talk about these chapter pages?! Look how pretty they are! The little details make this feel extra special, and I cannot wait to dive back into this world.

She’s a hefty one (1,000 pages) but she sure is pretty 😍

AUTHOR SPOTLIGHT: KATE QUINN

If you love historical fiction, strong women, secrets, and stories that make you want to immediately Google what really happened… you need Kate Quinn on your TBR!

One of the things I admire most about Kate Quinn is the incredible amount of research she puts into each and every book. Her stories are filled with fascinating historical details, and you can truly feel the time and effort she puts into bringing each setting, event, and character to life. I always find myself wanting to learn even more about the real history behind her stories after I finish!

Her books have a way of taking real moments in history and weaving them into stories filled with friendship, courage, betrayal, resilience, and women who refuse to be forgotten.

Have you read Kate Quinn? Which of her books is your favorite? And if you haven’t read her yet, which one is going on your TBR?
