Hurricane Isaias has strengthened into a major Category 3 hurricane, reminding us just how quickly conditions can change during hurricane season.

Tropical Storm Isaias is moving east-northeast across the Gulf, with rapid strengthening forecast. The storm is expected to become a hurricane Thursday, with impacts to the Florida Panhandle becoming increasingly likely.

Strong winds, storm surge, heavy rainfall and tornadoes are among the potential threats. Property owners in the path of the storm should prepare now.

🚨 This State Farm roof-claim case is getting serious.

The Oklahoma Attorney General is accusing the insurer of fraudulent and deceptive conduct tied to how wind and hail roof claims were handled. The lawsuit alleges State Farm used internal standards that may have reduced full roof-replacement approvals. State Farm denies wrongdoing.

Now, the company’s CEO has been ordered to answer questions under oath, while internal documents are also coming under scrutiny.

The big question for homeowners: Was your claim decision based on the actual damage or on something else?

These allegations have not been proven in court, but this is a case property owners should be watching closely.

South Florida friends: Keep the umbrella close this week. ☔️

We’re looking at several days of rain and thunderstorms around Fort Lauderdale, and as we all know, it doesn’t take long for some of our streets and properties to start seeing water.

A few reminders I always give property owners and community associations during stretches like this:

🌧️ Check drains, gutters and downspouts for anything blocking water flow.

📸 If you notice leaks, water intrusion or new damage, take photos and videos right away.

🏢 Property managers: keep an eye on common areas, parking garages, roofs and other areas that have given you trouble during heavy rain before.

📄 And know where your insurance policy is. Don’t wait until there’s a problem to start looking through your coverage.

Most importantly, don’t drive through flooded roads. A meeting can wait. Your safety can’t.
