When I finished my last piece on paper in June last year, I closed a chapter. My series ‘Love Hate’ was finally finished, and I felt proud of it. I still very much am.
Yet something inside me wanted to continue learning, continue developing myself as an artist. For the last years I’ve developed myself by learning about new mediums like paint, pencils and airbrush. These experiences have been great, but I wanted to try something (kind of) new to me.

This is why I picked up a tattoo machine last May, and started experimenting with it.
At first it was very difficult to even pull a straight line. For example: The way I needed to hold the machine, how the different kinds of needles react to skin and how deep the needles should penetrate into the skin were all new things to me. Luckily my cousin @enz.black is a great tattoo artist, and was able to give me some tips about how to conquer these problems. I kept on experimenting and after months and months of practice, I was able to pull off this swallow design.

I’ve selected some of my first designs to show my learning process and progress as a tattoo artist. The last photo’s show my very first two designs, both made in May 2025. Whenever I look back at the execution of these designs I ask myself: What was I doing? To be honest, I don’t know. And that’s also part of the learning process.
I am very proud of the progress I’ve made ever since and I look forward to continue developing myself as a tattoo artist.

‘Love Hate’

For the last 2 and a half years I’ve worked on four pieces, which form my first series; Love Hate.

This series represents my vision on the journey of falling in love to losing somebody. The pieces are organized in this order as well and thus should be viewed from left to right.

To celebrate this ‘milestone’ I’ve opened up a pre-ordering programme for prints of this series.

‘To Ivy’
(20th of December 2023- 29th of June 2024)

I really took my time while creating this piece.
Well, here it is.
I couldn’t be happier with the outcome.

This piece represents my personal growth during the last 6 months. Every major event that has occurred in my life has it’s own spot on this piece.

I really tried perfecting every detail while creating this piece. I took the time I needed and didn’t rush the process just for the sake of it.
Seeing this process contributing to the end result and being able to work on and off on this piece made me really happy and satisfied.
That’s what art is all about to me.
It makes me happy to be able to create pieces like these.

‘A LOVELETTER TO THE PAST ME’
(9th of September-8th of November 2023)

Every individual has it’s own story which is formed by every choice and decision it makes.
This piece is about my story.

For the last couple of months I’ve felt confused and incomplete, I still don’t know why, but it made me realize a lot of things about myself.
A lot of things happened in my personal life which made me realize who I am and how I want to portray myself to others. Being able to have that knowledge about myself helped me a lot with getting out of this confusing period and made me more secure about myself and my goals in life.

This piece was created with a lot of collage art. This artform is helps me a lot with expressing myself in exactly the way I want to, therefore I plan on using it more often in the future. It gives me a lot of creative freedom and being able to slowly see all the small parts form one piece really is satisfying. I once again used all sorts of (new) materials and techniques for the rest of the artwork, for example; I used watercolor, colored pencils and copic markers for the face this time. Combining different materials to create one part is something I plan on using in the future also.

‘Alleen in bed’

‘Alone in bed’

For the last couple of months I’ve gotten the opportunity to work on something new and challenging, this album cover for upcoming Dutch artist Swami. We started planning everything out back in April and worked our way through the process ever since.

So here it is, the final product!
I’m very happy with the result, although the process was different since this piece was made to be personal for Swami. A new but valuable experience for me.

In this piece I yet again used all sorts of mixed media, and I really am enjoying experimenting with all these different materials. More to come very soon!

‘CHAPTER 9’

1st of October 2022- 3rd of January 2023

The next step.

I started this project right after I finished ‘MONEY TREE$’ back in September. I felt like I had finished the project, but my head wasn’t empty yet; I was yet to close the chapter I tried to close using ‘MONEY TREE$’.

I started working on this project and I found that a lot of things I wanted to originally implement in my last piece weren’t present in that piece; this meant those elements were still unclosed chapters to me.
As usual, I started writing my thoughts and feelings down for the first couple of weeks before I started this project, also including the unused thoughts and feelings that were originally meant for MONEY TREE$.
I still wrote my thoughts and feelings down while working on this project since this helped me a lot last time; it’s almost therapeutic to me, it closes chapters.

Music is a big source of inspiration to me, therefore I took a lot of inspiration from lyrics and artists that are important to me for this project.

I used a lot of mixed media to create this piece.
I really enjoy working with different mediums and materials since they offer me the artistic freedom of expressing different feelings and creating parts of a project using different techniques and materials.
I also included some pictures of the process I went through while creating this project. I plan on doing this more often in the future since I find that this really shows all the hard work and dedication that goes into the making of a piece like this.

So here you go, a visual representation of everything that has been going on in my life lately, therefore it’s important to me.
I hope you enjoy this piece as much as I did creating it.

‘MONEY TREE$’

20th of May-29th of September 2022

Money is power.

I started this project back in April. I started writing all my thoughts and feelings down once again. I noticed a lot of thoughts were caused by the terrible scenes around the world lately, this amazed me and made me wonder what possibilities this gave me. I decided to continue working in this manner, so I wrote down my feelings from April to May 2022 and then started the sketching. I tried to keep my sketch very light and erasable, so I could remove or add details and new ideas whenever I wanted to during the process. This way of working caused that I even wrote my thoughts down during the project, something that I normally wouldn’t do. Doing this felt good to me, I had a way to really project my thoughts and feelings into this piece.

For this project I continued experimenting with new techniques, in this case I tried to make my art very collage-like; I wanted a lot of parts to create layers, and I reached this effect by drawing different parts on separate pieces of paper and then glueing these together. I noticed that this process gave me many new awesome possibilities with layering and creating texture, and I plan to keep using this technique in the future.

‘To you, m̶y̶ ̶s̶p̶e̶c̶i̶a̶l̶ ̶p̶e̶r̶s̶o̶n̶'

(December 2021-May 2022)

As you may know, I am always trying to step up my knowledge and skills on all sorts of levels, including art.
Lately I’ve really been into meaningful art, songs, books, etc., and that’s why I wanted to start making meaningful pieces for myself too, so here we are.

I started this proces by writing down my thoughts and feelings for 2 months straight (Dec-Jan).
After this process I started sketching and filling in gaps and blank spaces with different techniques, like collage or paint.
As I progressed and saw the piece coming together step by step, it became more and more special to me; all the thoughts and feelings I planned out overtime came together to form one piece.
I tried to complement all the learning experiences I had in my earlier pieces into this piece, and therefore this one is (once again) truly special to me :)

‘Patched up’

Patched up, a collection of memories and thoughts that I’ve collected over time. This piece is a representation of what I’ve been up to lately, and I hope you enjoy it’s outcome, at least I do.

This piece is therefore very personal to me and that’s why I tried to use as many new techniques and materials as I wanted to, and I really think this piece shows the difference.

‘Checkmate’

(April-September 2021)

A lot of time, thoughts, and emotions went into the making of this piece.

I really felt like I needed to take my time and space to make this piece as special and close to me as it could possibly get, so here we are, 4 months later, and I absolutely love the outcome of this one. I really put all my thoughts and emotions in the planning phase, and I’m so happy with the result.

This piece means a lot to me.

I (once again) used all kinds of materials and methods such as acrylic paint, waterpaint, collage, pencil, fineliner, copics, pen, varnish and glue to make this piece.
