After my brothers graduation, my mother mentioned to me that someone asked her if my brother and I were close. I don’t even remember if she said yes or no, but what she did say she said back to the person was that we had more of a father/son relationship. I laughed and immediately dismissed the notion. Today my brother wished me a happy Father’s Day and said “I made made him the man he is today.” I realize that I did sacrifice a great deal of my childhood to look after my brother. It was just my mother, my brother, and me. I missed a lot of weekends and a few summers because while she was at work i had to watch him. From my vantage point that was just a small part in helping him become the man he is today. But if God made me do it 10x over I’d do it 11.
