DEVI ANGEL

Devi’s goal for their project Favorite American Gay was to create something vibrant, subversive, playful, and unapologetically queer. In this work, Devi centers the joy and beauty that can emerge within queer life when individuals are given the space to fully express themselves. Rather than focusing on struggle alone, the project highlights moments of freedom, intimacy, and celebration that often go unseen or unacknowledged. At the same time, the project functions as an act of protest in a contemporary world where the rights of queer and trans people are increasingly under threat. In a world that seeks to diminish or silence queer existence, the act of loving openly and living authentically becomes a form of resistance. Devi embraces this tension, using humor and playfulness. Approaching the project with care, respect, and a strong sense of collaboration, Devi worked closely with their models to shape a shared vision. This collaborative process allowed each participant to contribute to a larger narrative of radical queerness, ensuring that the work feels both personal and collective. Ultimately, Favorite American Gay stands as a celebration of queer resilience, creativity, and the enduring power of self-expression. by @a.deviangel
