🐠Happy to announce that I’ve been selected by @rivelinco to create ‘Fish out of water’ for their new Rubbish commission! Fish Out of Water brings a shimmering, human-powered trout to life—celebrating the River Don and Sheaf’s incredible return from pollution and rubbish to thriving biodiversity. Looking forward to bringing this to life with Natasha from @telltaleheartstheatre theatre in 5 communities around S5 & S6 in Sheffield starting with @stanningtoncarnival1 Thanks to @a.different.gear for 2 bikes which will form the base of the moving, articulated sculpture. by @a.different.gear

E-bikes and e-buses! The future of South Yorkshire public transport. It was great to be at City Hall today for the rollout of the South Yorkshire People’s Network. The mayor is bringing buses back into public ownership and launching an e-bike subscription scheme. We’re thrilled that the mayor’s office chose @velodeville bikes for their big brand launch today. #symca #walkingwheelingcycling #publictransport by @a.different.gear

2026 is here and with it we have a series of Clothing Clinics hosted by the wonderful @a.different.gear 🚴‍♀️ Find us in store on February 7th, March 7th and April 11th, where we’ll be on hand to diagnose any ailments your clothing might have. Sticky zips, holey trousers, torn waterproofs? Bring yours along for some TLC. No repairs? No problem! Pop-in and have a chat about how to keep your gear in top condition, or ask about DIY repairs you can do at home. (Repair prices vary. Not all repairs can be carried out on the day, and will be returned later by post.) #ifitsbrokefixit #repairdontreplace #outdoorgearrepair #outdoorindustry #sheffieldclothingrepair by @a.different.gear
Get your bike ready for Spring with a FREE safety check worth £15! Simply comment that you've seen this post when making your booking. Valid for all bikes booked in by 31st January. Our Cytech-qualified mechanics will give your bike a full safety-check, a bit like giving your bike an MOT. Perfect if your bike has been hibernating over winter, endured heavy use or if you're not sure which service or repair your bike requires. We systematically check your bike including brakes, gears, tyres and tyre pressures. We will diagnose any issues that we find and provide you with a checklist to take away so that you have a record of the additional work we recommend. by @a.different.gear
Introducing the STRYVAe - a lightweight gravel e-bike from @velodeville. The lightweight rear hub motor with up to 45 Nm provides natural, dynamic assistance and a direct riding experience. Combined with the sleek Smartbike system, it creates a minimalist, fully connected e-bike experience – perfect for urban bikes and commuters. The carbon fork saves weight on the bike and provides improved damping properties compared to an aluminium fork. With the thru axle, it is torsion-resistant in the hub area, guaranteeing direct handling on all your tours. Weighs just 14.3kg! Don't like the colour? You can custom configure your own STRYVAe! #yourbikecustommade by @a.different.gear
THANK YOU! 🙏 We received over one thousand donated bicycles for the second year in a row. Thanks to everyone who donated their old bikes during 2025. Your bike donations help us to generate funds for the upkeep of our park @heeleypeoplespark and provide low-cost bikes for University of Sheffield students. We also partner with COMAC, a local volunteer organisation who refurbish bikes for asylum seekers, and also Aid 4 Gambia, a charity that ships bikes out to Gambian villages to help people travel to work and school by bike. Any bikes we’re unable to repurpose will be stripped down for parts and we try to make good use of all the components. We never turn a bike donation away so if you have one lurking in your shed collecting dust, whatever state it’s in, please drop it off with us and we’ll do our best to bring it back to life and give it a new home. #bikerecycling #reuseandrecycle #recycledbike #communitybikeshop #environmentalimpact recycling by @a.different.gear
