دي أول مرة أتكلم فيها عن مشاعري ناحية فيلم "خائنة الأعين"، الفيلم اللي خد مني ومن عبدالرحمن تحديدًا مجهود كبير، ووقفنا حاجات كتير في حياتنا عشان نتأكد إنه هيحصل بالشكل ده. رحلة طويلة كنا محظوظين فيها بحب ودعم ناس حوالينا، والرحلة دي مكنتش هتكمل من غير أي حد فيهم.

حبيت أتكلم دلوقتي تحديدًا بسبب تجربة عرض الفيلم في منصات أول إمبارح، اللي كانت مشحونة جدًا بالنسبة لي وسابت أثر كبير جوايا.

رغم إن الفيلم اتعرض في مهرجانات دولية كبيرة، وكسب جوائز واحتفاء من جمهور ونقاد ولجان تحكيم، لكن هتفضل تجربة منصات الأقرب لقلبي لسببين.

أول سبب إن دي الدورة العاشرة للمهرجان، وسعد – الله يرحمه – كان أخد جائزة إنتاج فيلمه الأول "بكسلة" في الدورة الأولى. وأول إمبارح، في النسخة العاشرة، فيلم سعد "خائنة الأعين" كسب جائزة أحسن فيلم روائي. ودي بالنسبة لي أحسن تكريم ممكن لمسيرة سعد، اللي غيرت نظرتي للحياة والسينما.

والسبب التاني إن التكريم ده اتضاعف باللحظات الحقيقية اللي معتقدش إني اختبرتها بره مصر بنفس الشكل؛ من تفاعل جمهور شكرنا على الفيلم والمجهود اللي اتحط فيه، في حين إني أنا اللي محتاج أشكرهم على كم المشاعر الطيبة اللي غمروني بيها. النوع ده من التواصل الإنساني نادر جدًا، وممكن ما تلاقيهوش حتى وسط الفرص الكبيرة والمهمة اللي بتديها مهرجانات تانية.

شكرًا لمنصات وجمهوره على أول إمبارح وعلي تجربة سينمائية مميزة جداً.

ولأن غالبًا دي آخر مرة هتكلم فيها عن الفيلم بالشكل الشخصي ده، فده الوقت المناسب جدًا إني أشكر شركاء الرحلة اللي أنجزوا فيلم كان وقتها، بكل الحسابات، شبه مستحيل يحصل.

JURY ANNOUNCEMENT: ANIMATION COMPETITION 🎞️🎨✨

Με ιδιαίτερη χαρά υποδεχόμαστε τον Abdelrahman Dnewar (@a.dnewar) στην κριτική επιτροπή του Animation Competition για το φετινό Psarokokalo ISFF.

Ο Αιγύπτιος δημιουργός με έδρα το Βερολίνο έχει καταγράψει μια εντυπωσιακή πορεία στον παγκόσμιο κινηματογράφο. Η ταινία του "My Brother, My Brother" απέσπασε διεθνή αναγνώριση μετά την πρεμιέρα της στο IFFR, προβλήθηκε σε πάνω από 65 φεστιβάλ και τιμήθηκε με την Ειδική Μνεία της Κριτικής Επιτροπής στο Clermont-Ferrand, καθώς και με το Golden Gate Award στο Σαν Φρανσίσκο.

Το έργο του Dnewar διακρίνεται για τον πειραματισμό του, συνδυάζοντας το animation με το live action, το found footage και τη γλυπτική, τόσο σε αναλογικά όσο και σε ψηφιακά μέσα. Η βαθιά του κατανόηση για τη διάλυση της υποκειμενικότητας και τους ανθρώπινους δεσμούς φέρνει μια μοναδική προοπτική στη φετινή μας επιτροπή.

Shaped by absence as much as presence, My Brother, My Brother unfolds through memory rather than chronology. Directed by @a.dnewar and completed after the death of his twin brother and co-director Saad alongside @abdallahdnewar, the film blends animation, live action, and fragments of a missing family archive to trace twinhood, grief, and imagination in parallel. Produced alongside close collaborators @heshammarold and cinematographer @karimmarold, the film has travelled widely since its premiere at IFFR, receiving international recognition including the Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Animation.

(Best Animated Short film)
My Brother, My Brother

A breakdown of the intricate process of blending animation with live action. After the preliminary animation was completed, it took @ash.elgabry and me months to create realistic shading and shadows so the 2D-animated characters would interact naturally with real backgrounds.

We also produced several matte paintings along the way to make the integration even smoother. All of this followed the beautiful workflow developed by @dnewar.saad, shown in the final slide. He originally created it as a test, but it was so stunning that we kept it exactly as it was for the final film, after his untimely passing.
