Last month, Olivia brought home tickets that she had earned at school for hitting her AR reading goal early! Her school participates in The Sharks Foundation's 'Reading is Cool' program that offers comp ticktes to students for reading. On top of that, she had raised all of her grades on her report card! I booked our tickets for the Sharks vs. Ducks game on April 1st. A day or 2 later, it occurred to me that was April Fools Day, one of Olivia's favorite "holidays". Her and I have been in a prank war since she was like 6, so I got this wild idea to reach out to the Sharks to see if they could help me prank her. I sent a message to 12 different Sharks contacts/departments that I could find... their VP of marketing got back to me THE NEXT DAY!!! The team and I then spent 3 weeks scheming! 😈 We came up with a plan to tell her that there was an issue with our tickets and to be taken to a holding area while they figured things out. Then Sharkie came out of a door beside us and got her with silly string and confetti! She was so surprised (and a little scared πŸ˜‚)! We took some cool pictures, she got some awesome merch, and the 3 of us had a freaking blast! The Sharks won, 3 to 4, scoring the last 2 points in the last 3 minutes of the 3rd period!!!!! Beau and I are so proud of her and wanted a fun way to celebrate her achievements in school. The Sharks made her first game insanely memorable, I can't thank them enough! πŸ¦ˆπŸ“šπŸ₯° by @a.ferry0705
6 or 7 years ago, my grandma taught me how she seasons her tamale meat. I've been seasoning our meat ever since. The first few years, she was around to tell me if I got it right or not because there is, of course, no recipe, just vibes πŸ˜‚ Even though she's gone now, my tamale meat still passes the vibe check. by @a.ferry0705
A fairy. A Green-Fairy. A ferry boat. The Ferrys!!!! Olivia came up with the idea and the puns. Her little mind is so freaking clever, pretty hilarious, too! πŸ˜† Olivia did her own makeup this year, I'm so proud, she killed it!!! by @a.ferry0705
Halloween 2023 was a success! 1. She did a great job of being safe and making sure she was paying attention to all the people around us. Happy to report, no accidents! 2. Speed demon 😈 3. Tossing the red shell 4. There are like 8 billion more of these pictures. We had so much fun having a. Little photo shoot. 5. Beau and I switched off using the electric board. The other.one we have needs some parts replaced. Still super fun though! 6. My handy work. I used styrofoam and card board over an old backpack, a t-shirt covering it all to hold it to the backpack, along with some strategically placed zip ties 7. Those spikes were fucking hard to make and stick on! 8. License plate was a little metal plate and I painted on the Peach and stars 9. Olivia found the crown in the Christmas ornaments section at Target. We just modified it and added to blue and red gems. 10. 5 pounds of candy in the bag that she decorated. Also, every year she sorts out her candy, makes a mom bag and a dad bag. Each bag has all the candy she doesn't like but we do and some of all our favorites the she shares from her big pile. It's so sweet 😊 by @a.ferry0705
🧑First day of 3rd Grade! Primer dia de tracer grado! πŸ’› (she's in a dual immersion program where half her day is in English and the other half is in Spanish) Wouldn't let me do her hair in a cute 1st day style, picked her own outfit, packed her own backpack, and disappeared through the school gate like she forgot we even walked her there. We're so proud.... and scared lol In Spanish and in English, this kid is gonna be a handful in all the best ways possible! by @a.ferry0705
I'm almost never on Facebook these days. I went on tonight to check something for my mom. This was the memory at the top of the page. This is absolutely INSANE because just YESTERDAY I told Olivia this story. I told it to her because we were in the kitchen, I was doing dishes, she was cleaning up the mess on the counter she made while making slime; I turned around and she was taking out the trash! On her own, unprompted, and it's something she's never done before. I told her how awesome she is for taking that initiative and how it reminded me of this day. Wonder what she's going to be up to 7 years from now!? by @a.ferry0705
June is a loaded month for me. Pride and Juneteeth; celebrations for two communities I belong to and can only proudly and without fear say so because of the thousands of people who came before me that paid with their lives to be seen and treated equally. The fight is not done for both the LGBTQIA+ community and the Black community, but I am so lucky to be here and continue the fight. Then there is Olivia and Beau's birthdays! Olivia's traumatic birth will always be the scariest thing I have ever been through. But I did it and I'm so proud of her and the person she is becoming. I could not have gotten through my pregnancy without Beau. He has taken care of our little family in ways I use to not think I deserved. He has done so much growing as a person, father, and as a partner, I'm so amazed by him everyday. We also celebrate our marriage anniversary in June! The day just the 3 of us went down to the county records office, signed some forms and said "I do" to a random county employee is my favorite memory of my entire life. It's the day we became The Ferrys! It's the day we promised eachother and Olivia that we're in this together forever, even on the hard days. Father's day is very bitter sweet. Both of my grandfather's have passed, and my relationship with my own Dad has lead to a lot of trauma, harmful coping mechanisms and general distrust of letting a man into my life. This 'holiday' makes me angry and I hurt for my inner child every year it rolls around. BUT, there is now another Father in my life and that is Beau! He is Olivia's best friend, cheerleader, and her rock. He takes time to get to know her as a person and really does his best to guide her, let her make her own mistakes that he then helps her learn from, and, they're both teammates when it comes to playing pranks on me. The type of involved, caring and supportive father he works so hard to be is healing not only for me, but for him as well. June is quite a roller-coaster for me, but I'm so lucky to be on this ride. #verygay #veryblack #veryproud #happyjuneteenth #happypridemonth #happyfathersday #happybirthday #happyanniversary by @a.ferry0705
I woke up craving a giant chocolate chip pancake. I asked Olivia if she'd make me one. She said "yes of course! Do you also want to use one of your mother's day flowers!?" She's the best! The pancake was exactly what I was imagining! (Beau helped a bit with the cooking πŸ’•) by @a.ferry0705
We know all she wants for Christmas! Had to get the front 2 baby teeth pulled to make room for her adult teeth. by @a.ferry0705
Totally forgot to post these from a few weeks ago! πŸŽƒ LJB here in Gilroy has the most pumpkin varieties I have ever seen at a pumpkin patch! It's also absolutely GORGEOUS out there. by @a.ferry0705
We found these at a garage sale yesterday! $145 for the pair! Figured she could have friends over to ride with her. I took out one of our electric skateboards and Beau was a real champ of a dad at teaching Olivia how to use the scooter. by @a.ferry0705
First day of school! Primer dia de escuela! 2nd grade and still in the dual immersion program. πŸ’œ by @a.ferry0705
