Delighted to share that I got to write the hook for one of the songs on @a.gjoints’ new album called “Soul Searching” 😍 The album takes you on a journey through the stages of grief and this song, “Abscission,” is towards the end, capturing the moment when the sun starts to peek out from behind the dark clouds. ⛅️✨ Listen on Bandcamp, link in my bio 💝

Hilltop Artists x A.G Joints for Tacoma Arts Month 🔥🎤

Here’s to my brother @a.gjoints for consistently creating connections and unique ways to share his art.

Shoutout @hilltopartists for sharing their space and @tacomaarts for a great weekend of studio tours.

If anybody recognizes the other artists please tag them! by @a.gjoints

inspired after the @hilltopartists x @a.gjoints collab as part of the Tacoma Studio Tours @tacomaarts

Tacoma is an amazing place to be an artist. I chose my favorite song by A.G. Joints for this reel.

My first job ever was working at the front desk of the Museum of Glass. I took all of my lunch breaks in the hot shop because I loved how warm and cozy it was in there. But that’s also where I grew appreciation for glass art, and the glassblowing process.

I watched as the artists spent all day working on huuuuge pieces, and sometimes a small mistake would cause it to drop and shatter into a million pieces. That was the name of the game.

I first saw @a.gjoints perform this song while opening for @dizzyhippy at @jazzbonestacoma last year. He told the story of writing this song over his long commutes home from Seattle to Tacoma. Giving shoutouts to all the points you see along the way. So Tacoma, and so creative!

I put together a vlog to document my studio visits around town today. Check that out using the Youtube icon in my Linktree in my bio if you’d like 🙂 by @a.gjoints

Beautiful collaboration event between myself @hilltopartists and @tacomaarts . Major shout out to @halleygregmusic for coming down to perform our song together for the first time. I wanted to share something meaningful. Not only inspired by real events, but featuring them. It was emotional, tears were shed, moments were shared, the art was live.

I wanted to do something special for my performance piece, an idea I’ve had in mind since machining and manufacturing the hand tools you see used here.

“Soul Searching” symbolizes the stages of grieving. It revolves around loss and my perspective through these experiences. Losing important people like my Uncle Randy, my Uncle Rico, etc sadly. Mostly, this project revolves around the loss of my Grandmother. When I moved to Tacoma she was excited knowing what a robust glass art scene there was. She wanted to visit, go to the museum of glass. She never got that opportunity but, this was my way of dedicating an experience to her. One I think she would have loved.

Yesterday would have been her birthday, mine is tomorrow. The project is up on Bandcamp, the link is easy to find. I ask that you listen and connect with it, feel something. I believe it resonates as in these times, we’re all grieving.

If you felt something. Throw me a dollah fam cuz times are challenging and things are tiiight fr. 😂😅

This project means a lot to me. I’m grateful to share it with you.

Shout to Ma Dukes on the 📸 (more coming soon) by @a.gjoints

SOUL SEARCHING : Stages and Grieving

October 19th (Bandcamp)

The intended version will listen like a play. You’ll hear real life moments, the sample, the flip, the art in my living, the process of grieving.

Resonate the real 💎 by @a.gjoints

Shout to @tacomaarts and @tacomalibrary for a dope kaleidoscope event. Honored to be a part of these things fr. Big ups to making noise in the library and the presence of Hip Hop in art spaces 💎
